Slightly off the beaten path but close enough to necessities. Quiet (there is some road noise but it's absolutely not a problem). Clean. Spacious sites; you're not on top of your neighbors. Would 100% stay at this property again.

Weekend Trip to Bare RV Resort

Tent site was conveniently located near all facilities. Many shower stations with lots of soaps. No bothersome insects!

4 nights at Cotee River Bend

We had the most wonderful stay at this private property campsite! We felt completely at home. The campsite itself is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and offers plenty of space and privacy. The bathrooms and showers were very clean seriously some of the cleanest we’ve ever encountered while camping! It’s such a relief to have access to fresh, well-kept facilities after a long day out exploring. The location is also a major highlight. It’s tucked away just enough to feel like a relaxing escape, but still super convenient—close to shops, restaurants, and anything you might need. And best of all, it’s not far from the beaches! We were able to enjoy quiet mornings at camp and then head out for afternoon swims and sunsets by the coast. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better spot to stay. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or just looking for a peaceful getaway, this place is a total winner. We’ll definitely be back!

Had a great stay! Mike and Rob is great. Gave us a tour of the property and the animals. Very friendly and hospitable. Plenty of room and private areas, except the mornings when greeted from the horses and donkeys looking for their morning carrots and apples. We jumped on the Withlahoochie State Trail at Floral City and road bikes to Inverness to check out the historic square and local eating and drinking establishments.

6 nights at Peace and Harmony with a Gulf View

Amazing property! This type of old costal Florida is becoming difficult to experience specifically in the area of the site. Wonderfully wildlife viewing, birds of all types especially sea/costal birds. Kayaking and fishing are world class as good as it gets anywhere along the gulf. The host is super nice and easy going. We enjoyed spending time and talking with him. You will not see many sites like this.

6 nights at Peace and Harmony with a Gulf View

We were honored to be Foster’s first guests. He was an interesting and charming host. The camping site is next to his house, which is on stilts and he allows guests to use the second floor, which has great views across the marshes. The property itself is very isolated and peaceful. There is a waterfront park to launch kayaks about a 5 minute walk. We really enjoyed our time here. The property itself is a work in progress so there is some work to be done, but you don’t see it when you are looking out over the marshes. There is a Walmart and other shops a few mins away. We would recommend and will be back soon

Weekend Trip to Gulf Winds Wildlife Sanctuary

Wow!! This was our last stop on a Florida roadtrip and I’m so glad we finished it off with this place. The cabin was clean, bed was comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked. Most importantly though, we had a tour done with Dona and got to meet all the animals! One of the highlights of our whole trip.

We loved camping at Alonda’s campsite. Nice shaded lot with easy access and hookups. There was outside dining and nice packed gravel which kept inside of camper clean. The amenities offered were great. We could use back deck by canal and also use of kayaks were a fun activity. We enjoyed a nice relaxing holiday weekend stay. Definitely would come back and stay again.

We loved site 2. Very private and shaded. We didn’t know what to expect, but it was great! Super cool nature walk to see some of the other options offered here. Primitive camping in a tent, but the breeze was so constant most of the morning and evening the heat is very tolerable. (92). Great location. , nice respectful campers, tidy with old school amenities. We loved it. This was our FIRST Hipcamp experience. The springs around here are worth the time to set up camp and enjoy it all. Host Hilary responded quickly and got us there no problem. Two Thumbs up 👍🏼

We loved our stay. It was great having the wood deck at this site with the picnic table. We got there too late on Saturday for the ranch tour but got to visit the goats and having the donkeys and horses visit our camp site each morning was nice. Rob and Mike were great hosts.

You can rent a kayak or a canoe to go out and see dolphins, turtles, alligators, manatees, snakes, deer, various birds or even bears. Other springs in the area are Hunters Springs, Rogers Park and Three Sisters springs. Crystal River is a charming, historical town 25 minutes north. You’ll pass Homosassa and their State Park (the oldest Hippo Lu (65) lives here). At the waterfront restaurant ‘Crumps’ you can watch monkeys on an island! Dames Cave in Lecanto is about 17 minutes from here with multiple caves to explore. The famous Weeki Wachee Springs State park is a 15 minute drive south highway 19. Howard’s Flea Market is the largest in Citrus County, 10 minutes north from the camp site. ‚Adventure Flg X’ is a fun Zip Line park in Brooksville. Rainbow River Springs is an hour north from Twin Pines. The Weeki Wachee preserve is another beautiful, close spot worth visiting. Disney World, Legoland and Universal Studios are within two hours. Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees. Cotee River Bend

Our RV Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not that remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a lazy winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting. We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

Hunter Springs is a great little park with a beach area for swimming and kayak rentals too. There are also several Diving with the Manatee tours available. One we suggest in town is Fun2Dive. These are all only a short drive away. You can enjoy swimming, fishing, scalloping, snorkeling, kayaking, pontooning just five minutes away, or just relaxing back at camp fireside. Heritage Village is in town filled with many hometown eateries and shoppes. It's a great way to spend the afternoon and explore downtown Crystal River. We have a variety of great one-of-a-kind eateries with many special events and festivals throughout the year. Conveniently located at the end of the street is a Publix, DG, a Mexican restaurant, and Beef O'Brady's. The city of New Port Richey is flanked by incredible views of the Gulf of Mexico on the west and vibrant forests in the Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park to the east. The metropolitan amenities of Tampa are only an hour's drive south, while nearby outdoor activities like hiking and horseback riding are available at the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve. Pull-through and back-in RV campgrounds with communal areas, wifi connections, electrical hookups, and dump stations are abundant in the area, while tent camping is also available with amenities like fire rings. Warm weather and sunny skies make New Port Richey a year-round destination for all kinds of campers.

Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park

Only a 15-minute drive from New Port Richey’s city center, Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park offers 8,300 acres of multi-use trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Spend the day fishing in the Anclote and Pithlachascotee Rivers, or head to the Starkey Environmental Education Center to learn about the area’s natural habitats. Stay right in the park, and rent a cabin or pitch a tent at a primitive campsite equipped with picnic tables and firepits.

Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve

Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve encompasses 110,000 acres of wetlands that are home to native carnivorous plants. It’s a popular spot for viewing local wildlife like armadillos and black bears, as well. Campers flock to Green Swamp for hiking, horseback riding, non-motorized boating, and hunting. RV campsites with dump stations and electrical hookups are available at Colt Creek State Park within the preserve. In town, campers can feel the energy while shopping, sipping cocktails at a rooftop bar, or laughing at a comedy club, but for a bit of nature, snag a spot at one of the many pet-friendly RV campgrounds nearby with pools, wifi connections, and full-service hookups. Then, head to Fort De Soto Beach for some more dog-friendly fun in the sun. (Clearwater Beach’s sandy shores are dog-free if that’s preferred.) Drive-in equestrian campgrounds are also popular and come equipped with picnic tables and fire rings.

When to go

March, April, and May are popular months to visit New Port Richey. Prepare for spring breakers at the tourist attractions during these months. Hurricane season runs from June until November with most rain occurring in July and August, and these summer months reach temperatures around 90°F. The winters in New Port Richey see temperatures as low as 50°F, but the skies are almost always sunny and accommodating for year-round camping trips.
