I can not find the words to fully capture the beauty and magic of this stay at Gnome Yome. We absolutely loved every second of it. While it had everything we could possibly need, we embraced the way nature and the views brought us connection and disconnection from all distractions. We will definitely be back!

This has been our best camping experience since moving to eastern North Carolina. We’ve tried so many sites, but nothing quite hit the nostalgia button of what we camped in growing up in New England. This site nailed it. Very fair price, very clean, river access. So grateful to have found the spot.

Absolutely loved the sites. Each site was spaced apart so you felt like you were secluded. I loved being able to get in the river and float from my site. Each site was in shade which I know will be great next time I go. Really loved having fire wood on site and extra available if needed. The paths were great to walk on. The Host was very nice. We loved how close it was to stores if we needed anything. It also a great treat to go to Vollmer Farms store for ice cream which was like 2 minutes up the road.

I really loved camping at Tar River Life. The sites are spacious and clean. It was quiet and relaxing. No one bothered. We would recommend this campground and we will be booking again.

We had an awesome time camping on Nikki and Billy’s land!! The sites are clean and flat. Great burning wood provided. Clear and easy instructions to site. Beautiful land to walk around. She had no idea where we were going—just along for the ride with a suspicious side-eye and a trusting heart. Everything was going smoothly…until we got to the gate. After a minor detour (aka struggling to open the gate), we were finally on our way—creeping down a winding mountain gravel road. With every twist and turn, the questions started flying. “Where are we?” “Where are we going?” “Are you serious right now?” And then—we saw them. Fairy lights. I shouted, “This is it, babe! The Gnome Home!” Her reaction? Let’s just say… she was not yet enchanted. “It’s dark!” “Are those fairy lights or fireflies?” “I think this is the right one,” I added confidently. “The right what???” The fairy lights had faded and we couldn’t see a thing down the trail. With only our phone lights guiding us, we ventured ahead. That’s when she saw it. “Outhouse. RAIN SHOWER?! Are you serious??” Let’s just say the shock was real. But once she got past it, everything turned magical. Well—except for Scram, the giant mouse who had made the grill his summer home. (She only laughed after jumping off the bed.) But despite the rustic quirks and unexpected visitors, we had a blast. We laughed until our sides hurt. We made memories we’ll never forget. We lived the adventure—together. Weekend Trip to Spacious Skies Bear Den - RV/Tent Sites

We stayed at Bear Den Campground site A35/37 from April 25 to April 27. I booked online through Hipcamp, booking was easy. A35/37 is one big group campsite, not two separate sites. Size was enough and the ground was very well leveled, felt like sleeping on an orthopedic mattress. Only one vehicle was allowed, so all people and all camping stuff had to fit into one vehicle, which was uncomfortable for us. Restroom and shower were excellent and clean, but no trash can at the campsite, we had to carry trash about 230 feet to the restroom area. No grill setup at the campsite, so you have to bring your own if you want to grill. The place was peaceful, safe, and the night sky was beautiful, full of stars. Nearby attractions like Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest were close, but it took about 4 minutes to drive 1 mile because of mountain roads. Overall, we had a good experience. I would give 8 out of 10 because of three small issues: no trash can at the site, only one vehicle allowed, and no grill provided.

The property consists of 93 acres and 2780 feet (1⁄2 mile) of river frontage on the First Broad River. The First Broad River offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing, and fishing. Smallmouth and freshwater sunfishing is incredible on this stretch of the river and there are also opportunities for mountain river catfish. Tellurian’s scenic location offers stunning vista views of the surrounding countryside, sprawling views of the South Mountain and Cherry Mountain ranges, as well as long range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The sunsets are amazing and the star lit skies are uninhibited by city lights. One of the few lights that can be seen at night lights up a steeple silhouetted against the mountain ridges. It’s truly a peaceful site. Tellurian is centrally located between Charlotte NC, Asheville NC, and Spartanburg SC in the small town of Casar, NC. We are located in a rural setting in the foothills on the edge of the South Mountains Range, a branch of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thank you for checking out our place! We are Jud and Amanda Wortman. We have three children – Emma Grace and Baxter (twins) and Elena Jo. As a family, we enjoy canoeing, kayaking and camping. We live 9 miles from Tellurian on a family farm. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Fully working farm with several wooded areas as well as open spots. We do farm tours and seasonally other events like lamb cuddles, baby goat feeding, etc. Tickets purchased through our website ( landofmilkandhoneyfarmnc.com ) We farm on land that has been in our family for around 30 years. We are always expanding and improving paddocks and areas to be of better use in our livestock rotational grazing and vegetable/fruit production. Animals that call our farm home include alpacas, Katahdin hair sheep, East Friesian milk sheep, beef cattle, Jersey milk cows, miniature donkeys, pasture/forager pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, and quail. We also raise honeybees and bottle their honey on site in our honey processing house. We love our animals and being their caretakers. Farming takes a large amount of time, work, and expense but it can be very rewarding with the slower pace of life, peaceful setting, and quietness in stepping away from the hustle and stress of normal day-to-day life. Here we get to see some of God’s most intricate details in His creations such as a seed turning into a flourishing plant that provides food as well as its own seed for future plantings (Genesis 1:12 - And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind). We watch honeybees who travel for miles gathering nectar to make honey and witness the miracle of life be born. We want the farm to be a place to come and get away, a respite from the all too familiar busyness of normal life to relax and be at peace.

There's a lot of breakable stuff, tempting treehouses (that might be occupied by other guests!), sites that are within earshot of each other, and hazards that aren't a good fit for kids. THE NEIGHBORHOOD The campground is located in the "Emma" area of Asheville. Also known as "Wild Wild West Asheville" (to distinguish it from regular West Asheville which is about 5 minutes' drive away), this is the last bastion of non-gentrified Asheville. Emma is completely un-zoned, so you get an interesting mixture of mostly residential and agricultural properties that scatter the area. The campground itself is tucked away in a 2-acre wooded valley. We're about 10-15 minutes' drive away from downtown Asheville and a $12-$15 Uber ride. Unfortunately, public transportation is not very accessible from the campground. WHAT'S NEARBY? - There are approximately a bajillion breweries in Asheville, many of which are within 5-15 minutes away. - Downtown Asheville (~10-15 minutes), West Asheville (~5-10 minutes) and the River Arts District (~5 minutes) are full of city life fun - amazing restaurants, live music, shopping, art galleries and did we mention breweries? -So much hiking! Choose your own adventure - waterfalls, mountain-top views, fog-drenched valleys, rambling rivers. There are some trails about 20 minutes away, but to get to the good stuff, you'll drive 40-90+ minutes. - White water rafting ~60-90 minutes away - Tubing down the French Broad River is the ultimate way to chill out in the sun. French Broad Outfitters, Zen Tubing and Lazy Otter are some companies that can take care of all the details for you. These are all 10-20 minutes away. OUR HISTORY We discovered this property in 2017, and quite by chance! We had finished working a seasonal job in Colorado and were on our way out to the coast to look into starting our own business. We happened to come through Asheville and casually stumbled across this property. Long-story-short, we put in a bid on the property. It was accepted, and now we have a real fixer-upper on our hands! Here's some history on the property as reported by the previous owners: The road you park on was the old county road, a long, long time ago. The couple who sold us the property is elderly, and the blue house you pass on the left on the way to park was where the wife grew up. In fact, that enormous pine tree on your right as you come up the road was the old lady's Christmas tree as a child. The jiu-jitsu gym used to be an auction house. Then it was used as a dance hall. Then it became a cabinet-making space and finally a timber frame-making space. Over the past year we've converted it into a jiu-jitsu gym, although you can still see plenty of "upcycled" remnants of previous uses, all around the gym. The campground area itself was slated to be turned into a trailer park. You can tell that the area was partially graded at one point or another. Thanks to that initiative, we have some convenient paths all around! They decided not to follow through on setting up trailer pads since it was more money than they had bargained for. After that, the space was used as a black-market dump! Luckily the city shut it down, and after two spring seasons of cleaning up back there, we're left with what you see! We're going to continue to pour our hearts, souls, creativity and probably more than just a little money into making "The Baying Hound Campground" a fun place to crash for a couple days while taking in all that is Asheville. The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck, so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some roofs are full size, some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in normal weather conditions. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system, allowing guests and dogs be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned on a weekly basis. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, et I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky Many of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful to the place and please be friendly to the people yo Learn more about this land: Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog-friendly. Never block the road with a park car.

Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over 150+ acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣 Our cows, pigs, sheep, donkeys, chickens, ducks, quail, and geese are all eager to meet you, as are we! Back to the basics, come and experience Tar River Life’s primitive camping on the Tar River. Enjoy being on the river and listening to slow running sound of the Tar River. Chimney Rock State Park is 25 miles east and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountain scenery. Or perhaps go for a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
