What a great camping spot! Close enough to the Sand Dunes Park as well as other awesome things to do including Colorado Gator Farm and Sand Dunes Recreation Center. Had two families of 4 staying and it was the perfect amount of space. We had the place to ourselves pretty much for the first couple days and then other campers showed up but it there was still plenty of space between sites. Our kids did all the exploring they could and there was still space to explore more. The ranch dogs are amazing, sweet, friendly, and protective they scared off some critters while hanging out with us. Only thing I can think of that was a bit of a bummer was the trek to the bathroom being a little far from where we set up camp, but it was clean and honestly it was nice to even have a portapotty on the property.

As much as I wanna give a stellar review, I unfortunately cannot. With Hipcamp it appears that there’s only seven or so sites but when we were arrived around early evening, driving in to the location, all the spots were filled, but yet there were over double the number of campers strewn all over a vague area that had pull outs and alike. Only a few places had actual fire pits. The remaining were just open Areas covered in sage brush when we reached out to the host about both the site and the Firewood we were told we just camp wherever we did receive the firewood and the individual was quite nice, but we literally had to drive over brush into a small open area to find a camp area. Well, this is really convenient to great sand dunes national Park. The layout itself could be considerably better with just a little bit of grading of the property and creating of spots. The biggest thing that concerned us was the fire that we started with the wood that was provided, which was a nice feature was unfortunately done on open ground, and in that part of Colorado was quite dry at the time so the risk of fire in our minds was probably greater than it should’ve been without a proper fire pit. We plan to go back to great Sand dunes national Park later this year, but this will definitely not be a location. Will be staying out with a truck camper.

Great place to camp, it is very quiet and relatively close to the Great Sand Dunes. The night sky was fantastic without light pollution. I would definitely stay there again!!!

Great open camping spaces, but watch out for sandy spots around the sites. The dogs on the property are very friendly like to share your camp fire. Shot out to Kaylee the Pyrenees!

My wife and I had a lot of fun camping here after going to the Great Sand Dunes. The sunset was gorgeous, as were the stars and the sunrise views of the snow capped mountain.

Spacious and affordable campsites in a convenient location. Great views of surrounding mountains within 30 minutes of Great Sand Dunes National Park and Zapata Falls. Also, couldn't even hear the few neighbors we had during our stay. The friendly, free range dogs were a plus as they visited often.

This place was perfect for our group! The view was unbeatable, the site was clean and well maintained, the host was communicative, and the dogs were so incredibly sweet. Very close to the sand dunes entrance as well!

Sarah was super responsive and gave helpful directions to the site. The views were gorgeous and the area was very spacious. They have firewood for purchase and each designated site has a fire pit. Great place to spend a weekend!

The most gorgeous spot we’ve camper in yet! Beautiful views. Quiet and peaceful. Dark skies. My pup loved one of their dogs. We enjoyed walking around on the dirt roads. It is a bit rough coming in but entirely passable. Just take it slow!

Ideal location for visiting Great Sand Dunes, good amount of space between cars/sites. Be mindful that "no-see-ums" (biting gnats) are plentiful right now, my group came back with several itchy welts. Bring bug spray!

The entrance to RHR was easy to find following Jen’s instructions. It was a great and clean site with a wonderful view of the mountains. The only downside was that the portable toilet ran out of toilet paper towards the end of the stay BUT it was a very packed holiday weekend so it’s understandable.

She correctly described the site and was a good communicator. The views of Mt Blanca and the Sangre de Cristo mountains are amazing and it is quiet and remote. One must remember it is primitive camping. Only problem was the outhouse needed some attention. Her dogs were friendly.

We arrived in the dark and sites were still easy to find, we had tons of space and plenty of distance between neighboring campers. We loved the dogs that came by every now and then seeming to be checking up on each camp. The stars were incredible!! We saw several UFOs and I think maybe the aftermath of a comet, absolutely magical time here!
