It was a really nice secluded camp site with a lot of distance between spots. Each spot was located under 700-1000 year old oak trees with open fields between. Easily found all the wood you need on site for fires which makes foraging fun and good for the kids.
Good atv trails, fishing hole, some coyotes and deer on site. cow ranch though so bring some deet spray for the flies if you’re not thick skinned.
Fishing was okay. Good amount of water but would be prime to catch after a good rain so you could skim the top without eating too much seaweed. Bottom fishing for cat carp or bass would be good though.
Pool is salt water and enclosed. Comes with floats and some dive toys which is nice, and the owners and the manager John were really helpful nice and great.
If your dog is well behaved and nice with other dogs, after introductions they were totally cool with my dog being off leash the entire time.
The sun rises and sun sets from the ranch and camp sites were really beautiful.
I’d rate it a 7/10.
The winds can get high and the flies were my only issue, but good bug spray handled the flies and if the winds get to bad they have about 5 cabins for rent for around 100-150 a night which is a good contingency plan. They also offer camp relocation to their barn incase it’s to severe.
John is available to help tear down and use his ranger to relocate.
If I could attach some photos I would because the highlight of the camping spots is the trees and views.
So beautiful.
Our initial plan was to tent camp, however due to the rugged road to the tent area and weather we stayed in the arena. It wasn't definitely a unique experience. But would definitely do it again. John, was very polite and accommodating considering the conditions. Dog friendly is also highly appreciated. The showers are new and modern as well as the restroom. There was a beautiful horse near the arena and my kids' eyes lit up to see it. It was a nice time to relax and rewind there after a busy few days.
The hosts were so friendly, hospitable, and came through in a crisis. The facilities were fantastic, and the hosts were able to shield us from intense winds that came through and collapsed our tents. Views are amazing and the pool is wonderful on hot days.
Be prepared! These sites are on the planes of northern Colorado so it can get WINDY!
Spring Canyon Ranch was a fun stop on our adventure. We enjoyed the remoteness and option to choose a perfect location to set up camp. The area was nice and quiet except that rainbow producing hail storm that popped up. Super cool! We took advantage of the kitchen for cooking with there being a fire ban in effect. Would love to stay again!
I did not have access to the facilities listed on HipCamp (toilet, kitchen, shower, WiFi). Seemed to me the owner has barely gotten things rolling. I could have camped for free elsewhere in Pawnee.
The camp sites were secluded but completely undeveloped:: no picnic tables, no fire rings, no water, no restrooms, and, pitching our tent, we cleared the ground of cow pies. The next night we stayed at another HipCamp location with all the amenities missing here, and at half the price.
On the plus side, we did have the use of showers, bathroom and kitchen in the “ arena” exactly one mile away from the camp site and were welcomed by friendly and helpful hosts.
We just left our camp at Spring Canyon Ranch while overlanding in CO and WY. Janet was helpful in letting us pick our campsite for two nights. We thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and privilege to stay at this Ranch. We used both vehicles and a ground tent for shelter with ease along the ridge line. Showers and bathrooms were available as well as a kitchen. Our first night was perfect with minimal wind and clear skies. Local wildlife is in abundance and great to see (pronghorns, deer, horses, coyotes, and of course cattle). The second night was overcast and some wind but nothing an experienced camper/overlander would consider difficult. Overall an amazing location with great people and the opportunity to see a real ranch in action. We loved our experience here and look forward to more visits.
We had a wonderful walk down the corridor of ancient cottonwoods and willows when we arrived at our camping area, even with incredibly gusty winds - a bonafide grasslands experience. The ranch is in the middle of a wind farm, with giant turbines surrounding you. The shower/bathroom building is kept beautifully warm and taking a shower in the morning was fantastic after being on the road a few days.
We had a difficult time finding the ranch, as the directions weren't clear. Raymer actually doesn't exist - but New Raymer does, and this is what we needed to put into our GPS. And because we came from the south, we didn't know we needed to get onto 71N to find CR132. We were told that they had just begun Hipcamp 2 months ago, and were fine tuning their communications, so it will probably get clearer.
Amazing! So peaceful, showers were nice. Janet an employee went above and beyond to help make sure our stay was amazing. She deserves a big raise for all she did for us!!!
We had a lovely time at the ranch. The ranch hand Janet was there to assist us, and we ended up setting up camp under some shady trees nearby the cabins. We fished in the pond, had fun at the pool, enjoyed the hot tub, hiked around the caves, and always found the kitchen and restrooms clean when we needed them. Janet’s dog Nelly was so sweet and friendly. We came with our five-year-old and she had a blast. Highly recommend this quiet spot!
This place is incredible! We stayed an extra day and explored the area. The staff was more than welcoming and very helpful. The showers, bathrooms, and kitchen area were clean a welcome surprise. We tent camped under an old cottonwood in a very private area. They have cabins available, and this would be a great place for a retreat! They even have a pool and sauna! Don't hesitate on this one- it's a great place to stop by on your way through the area!
