Location, potential - not there yet
Cape San Blas is a beautiful, peaceful, wonderful place to visit. We very much enjoyed walking the beach from the convenient access right up the road, riding our bikes on the trail that passes the property, and exploring the state park up the street.
Unfortunately this listing is not worth the $100/ night price point, despite its location. First and most important, it is not possible to access the property directly if you have low ground clearance. Our 30-ft class C has about 8 inches of clearance, and it was physically not possible to make it over the 12+ inch drop off the paved road and into the sand at the top of this spot. We ended up pulling off the road at someone else’s driveway and driving down the lovely bike path to get in and out of the spot - a horrifying experience that we made work because we had no other choice but would never want to repeat.
The spot itself is rock, with some bushes separating it from the road. No privacy, very little break from road noise, and no shade whatsoever. The listing claims there’s a sandy area, and we could never figure out what that was supposed to be in reference to. There is no bay access despite the property stretching to the water, it’s high brush we were not equipped to fight through - it would be easy enough for the host to break a trail, but they’ve chosen not to?
Overall, we loved our visit to the Cape and Port St Joe, but that was in spite of this spot and not because of it. It has great potential and could definitely s
