We like to interact with people or you can keep to yourself and have a quiet getaway in the woods. Sorry, but the tree house isn't available to rent since it is my home. I may rent it out in the future. Also in progress is the "Dome" We are on a solar powered, off the grid 30 acre homestead that has 24 acres of wooded land and 6 acres of groomed land. Come explore our land and relax in the "Tree Web", see the 2 story tree house that I live in, have fun on the tire swing, or just sit and enjoy all that nature has to offer. You can explore our interesting topography that has close to 100 foot of elevation changes, our (mostly) dry creek system that starts with 2 springs that drain into 3 sinkholes or walk 3 miles of trails (if you follow each trail from end to end). We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people. We welcome pets for camping, but no pets allow in the Camping Cabin. Also be aware that we have 2 friendly dogs on the land that roam freely. - 3.5 miles to Marengo Cave - 7 miles to the Blue River (canoes, rafting and swimming) - 30 minutes to Patoka Lake - 37 miles west of Louisville - 13 miles north of Interstate 64

I may rent it out in the future and I will have a cabin available later in the year We also have the Cozy Camping Cottage available. Skip the tent setup and stay in our micro cottage. Cozy Camping Cottage

Skip the tent setup!. Just pull in and you'll be ready for camping in our micro cottage. No tent needed! We have built a small building just for sleeping in. It's 4 foot tall, 4 foot wide and 8 feet long. It has windows and doors so you can just pull in and be setup in a matter of seconds. It's off the ground has plenty of windows and a big door with a screen so you can stay cool and dry in any weather. It's in a prime location that is close to the outhouse, shower house and Tree Web and has it's own small yard in front of it with a fire pit. 2 people can fit in the Cozy Camping Cottage but if you want to have more people they can camp next to your site. You can add them here or book through the Black Walnut Grove listing. It is the same either way you do it. The Cozy Camping Cottage requires you bring your own bedding (There is a mattress with a waterproof cover on it). Anything full sized or bigger will work.Kids are people too - Please include all people when booking your site. We love groups - Host your event here or have a group gathering with all your friends and family. We have spaces large enough to host hundreds of people.

Camp in a cabin at Happy Hollow Homestead. The Camping Cabin sleeps 2 in the queen sized bed, but has plenty of room for campers outside the cabin. You can add additional campers or they can book tent camping separately. It is 15' x 15' foot spray foam insulated cabin with a queen sized bed, a couch and a heater for the winter months (or fan for summer months). It's close to a shower and outhouse. There is a fire pit behind the Camping Cabin an will soon have a view of the new pond (when it fills up) The Camping Cabin has limited electrical due to being off-grid. Lights, phone charging and fan are okay. Sorry, no pets allowed in the camping cabin.

Hidden A-frame in the woods

The A-frame is our newest addition. I'm still working on it a bit, but wanted to get it listed. The A-frame is our most secluded camping spot that you can drive to. Tucked away at the edge of the property but still not too far from everything else. It has a queen sized 6" foam mattress and is close to an outhouse and shower and near the new pond which is in the process of filling up.

The time I had there was a perfect separation from the world I needed. Secluded enough to be away from stress yet it close enough to a town to get supplies if forgotten. I will be returning to this site. Kerry was more than flexible in finding a spot that fit our needs and was available if we needed something or needed information. Also loved the visitor that stopped by an hour she can take a break. I believe his name is Maynard!

Hidden A-frame in the woods
I stayed in the A-frame with my dog for 2 nights. The A-frame is better than camping on the ground as it has a queen sized mattress inside; however, there's no door on the A-frame yet so I got a little wet when it rained and the shower near our campsite was not working. Kerry offered the other site to me, which was 10 bucks cheaper, but I really liked the location of the A-frame. In hindsight, I think we would have been better off at the other site that has a door and is closer to the working shower. Kerry is a friendly host who works hard to maintain the land and live sustainably. He recommended a gorgeous hike to Hemlock Cliffs, which was really the highlight of our stay. I loved being close to nature for a few days to defrag my brain.

This place rocks. Very serene and lots of beautiful nature to explore. The host Kerry is super nice and welcoming and willing to help. Outhouses are well kept and remove any fear you may have of the old fashioned. There’s also a really sweet dog that may periodically visit your campsite. Would especially reccomend this place if you are looking for a quieter and more primitive camping experience. This is definitely my new go-to for camping in the Kentuckiana area.

Kerry’s Happy Hollow Homestead was a great place to meet up with a friend to camp for the weekend and celebrate the beginning of spring! The property is well thought out and completely off-grid and sustainable. Visiting the pigs was a fun interaction. The sky was clear and perfect for star gazing. There’s a trail on the perimeter of the land. Plenty of caves nearby for exploring as well! Kerry has done a great job being a steward of the land. Talking to him and learning more about the permaculture techniques that he uses was a highlight of our visit! We car camped at one of the tent/RV sites for two nights. I highly recommend this peaceful place for anyone looking to escape into nature and connect with the land! Thank you Kerry!

It was an excellent tent camping site; very quiet, great trees, tent pads fit any size or number of tents you have. The net web was fun. Kerry was super nice, communicated well and was flexible on check in/out. Would stay again.

Kerry was such a hospitable, accommodating and kind host. I couldn’t recommend Happy Hollow Homestead more! We loved our dispersed camp site. It felt very private and it was immersed in nature. We loved the two dogs that came to visit us. Thanks for an amazing stay Kerry!

We loved tent camping on Kerry's land. The land was absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed hiking and just sitting by the camp fire. Some bonus features included the outdoor HOT shower, WiFi, and the fun tree web. If you are looking for a remote get back to nature experience this is your place. Kerry's was a great host. We will absolutely be back!

The place is simply lovely and quiet, for people looking for a place away from the hustle and bustle, this is your place! The owner's attention and hospitality is unbeatable, that night even though it was late when we arrived at the place, he waited for us to greet us and show us the camp, and he very kindly helped us start a campfire, everything was perfect, we will definitely return!

Well, it was just immaculate. Beautiful trees, leaves changing colors 😀 And all so well kept! Kerry was an excellent host, and made us feel welcomed. Our dog ran and played with his dogs in the big open field, which was so great for her! The first thing I noticed is that it was so quiet and peaceful! Perfect for meditating or quiet r&r. It was also very private, which was wonderful to me So if you are seeking to be surrounded by NATURE in a QUIET, PRIVATE and PEACEFUL setting, I highly recommend Kerry's place.

If you are looking for a peaceful place in nature, this is it! So relaxing and well kept. My stay was too short to take in all the amenities, but our dog absolutely loved playing with her new friend !

Peaceful & quiet site. We arrived real late on our first night, and Kerry kindly met us to guide us into our site. The hot outdoor shower is a nice amenity. We also enjoyed the campground dogs that visited with us throughout our stay. The one exception to that was when they welcomed themselves to the food contents in our small cooler one morning before arising for the day. Kerry’s maple syrup is delicious, and it was nice to learn he even makes syrup from black walnut trees.

The site was quiet and peaceful. Kerry was friendly and accommodating. The maple syrup that he makes is delicious. It was also interesting to learn that he also makes black walnut syrup from the trees there. The outdoor shower is a nice amenity. We also enjoyed our campground dog guests with the exception of them making themselves welcome to the food in our small cooler on the last morning - just beware of this.

I chose this spot as a place to meet up with a group of friends and Kerry's magical land was perfect for us. The tree net was a hit with adults and kids both, and we loved having the different dogs come visit throughout our stay. The bathroom situation is definitely rustic but better than most camp grounds, just don't go expecting it to be a bathroom at Versailles. We hung out with some pigs, hiked all around the property, and spent some time chatting with Kerry, who is very cool. We hated leaving and we'll definitely be back.

Super Awesome Experience!
Camping Cabin
Beautiful and secluded stay! It was a wonderful and tranquil trip. We had a blast staying here. We came for a couple days of an all day music festival and we ended up staying at the cabin more than the festival! The host was so friendly and welcoming as well, checking in frequently to make sure we had everything that we needed and ensured we were comfortable. Our stay here was a whole experience, from the outdoor Shower under the open sky to the Tree Net we played on. If you get a chance can to stay here, take it!
