Welcome to our fifth generation, mini-valley, woodland, and rolling hills. Empty Cupboard Farm has been family owned since 1918. It is presently planted in soy and corn. Wildlife abounds, including deer, small mammals, and geese. Bald eagles and Heron even take a pond dip periodically. Woodland trails are accessible and new tree plantings can be observed. We welcome RVs under 30'. It will be too hilly for anything longer. (Be aware: inclement weather is not your friend here if your vehicle can't handle potentially slippery conditions.) Enjoy the following activities: Mountain biking, pedal only - Pond fishing. (Sorry, no swimming in the pond; but an "An open to the public", private pool is 13 miles/20min. As is the Y. Lawn games and a fire pit are available. So are the stars at night; cloud permitting. Consider the free star gazing app, SkyView Lite, even in the day and under clouds. Don't miss our stunning sunsets at the "Red Door," our entrance. Historical towns within 10 miles any direction are reached over rolling countryside. Gettysburg is less than 20 miles. Baltimore is less than an hours ride by open highway. Blue Ridge mountains 18 miles. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard. Additional things to see: Boating in Carroll County Maryland. Local wineries Ski Liberty Carroll is a full service county whatever your needs. Check out carrollcountytourism.org to learn more No lions, tigers, and Oh my! However, be aware that small critters may try to steal your food. No recent bear sightings. Geese visit occasionally. Coyotes are seen periodically. All hunting rights are reserved for long term clientele; therefore, hiking on the farm may be curtailed if they are present during hunting season. I really loved this location. It's right by the pond, it's very quiet and peaceful. The owner is a very nice person and very accommodating. Everything was perfect! ☺️

We loved camping at Peggy’s. The views were beautiful, the site was very private. The family house was right there but they didn’t come out. We will gladly go back.

We enjoyed the peaceful scenery and nights. The pond was pleasant and the kids enjoyed the open space. It was great for bike riding and walking. Fireside evenings and cooking were nice, as was the firewood.

Beautiful country setting. Host was very gracious, met me upon arrival, explained/ answered all my questions. We got to pick our camping area. Host was very friendly, asking about any needs. Highly recommend this Hipcamp. Couldn’t beat cost/fee.

The place was BEAUTIFUL!! Very peaceful and quiet. The perfect place for a weekend getaway! Peggy is the best and sweetest host. We got there late and she still made it outside to greet us while we set up and gave us great recommendations on what to do and where to go. We got to take home some fresh chestnuts that had fallen, you could hear them fall at night which added a nice little spooky touch if you’re not used to camping. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful and pretty place to set up for the weekend!

Great site and host. I loved the seclusion being at the end of the road. Fun to watch the swallows diving above the pond for insects. Those combined with local bat population made my stay virtually bug free. A 40 mile drive to nearest Metro if you are visiting DC while here. Highly recommend. I would definitely return in the future. Thank you Peggy!!!!

Our stay at Peggy’s was lovely. The property is quite scenic and peaceful. Plenty of area to walk and enjoy nature. We enjoyed everything about it!

A serene view...

We came to Peggy's property with our 21' travel trailer. She has an absolutely beautiful non working farm with a pond as a focal point. It is a serene setting. Some trees were knocked down from a prior storm, but all in all it is a perfect place to camp. She has some 110V power available, and a spigot near the barn. We loved it so much that we already booked another stay!

Awesome hip camp. Bird lovers paradise….. extremely relaxing. Peggy is a gem. Hearing the pond at night is extremely methodical. Good sleeping!! The Electric and water hook up are in great condition. Depending on how close to the pond or your desired placement will truly depend on how long of an extension cord. Hiked the woods and hills….. the land just keeps going! Thank you Peggy!!!!

I loved tent camping here! The land is spacious and beautiful with the meadows and the waters. Super serene and with nice weather it's beautiful sights all around. It's peaceful and quaint. Peggy is also so kind and awesome!!! If you're looking for a private, quiet, relaxing time, highly recommend this location.

Peaceful Weekend "Retreat"

My husband, puppy, and I absolutely loved meeting our host, Peggy, and camping on her land. She was very friendly and has so much knowledge of the area. Her land was peaceful and beautiful. Our puppy had a blast and we all felt so serene after leaving. My husband caught a bunch of blue gills and one small bass. We would definitely return. Thank you, Peggy, for such a wonderful getaway weekend.

Beautiful site, awesome host and I would definitely come back again. There was a picnic table, large fire pit and potable water available. The host was super accommodating, they hooked up extension cords so we could have electricity the night we arrived. There are some spots that aren’t level, but we would a nice spot to setup. Very easy to find and you will love the views, especially the colors of the fall.

Peggy’s place was an excellent place to land for 2 nights. We van camped by the fire ring next to the pond. Many mature trees hosting many birds plus it was migration season, so great birding. There is also a big red barn, old and beautiful. Peggy was responsive and very nice.

Empty Cupboard Farm was a delight! The host Peggy was welcoming and friendly—happy to chat but also sensitive to privacy. As a solo female car camper I felt very safe tucked into the farms valley. The pond, barn and surrounding fields were so peaceful. . If you forget something plenty of stores 4 miles away in Taney town or 10 miles to Westminster. I definitely recommend it! As Peggy said before my stay, a tornado hit the area earlier this summer with damage to several trees and one of the outbuildings—this didn’t affect my enjoyment of my stay at all—I just mention it so visitors are aware. Thank you for a restful visit at your farm!

We loved our stay at Peggy's. The location was beautiful and peaceful. The property did receive recent damage from a tornado, but it did not affect the camping area. The grass was pretty high, but we reserved last minute, and they were in the midst of a huge cleanup from the storm, so I assume it is not normally like that. Peggy was so great with communication, and we look forward to meeting her at our next visit. Be prepared with long extension cords (we were approx. 150 feet from the electric pole.). Our puppy, who previously did not enjoy camping, had a really good experience and did so much better than previous camping attempts.

Amazing camping location!!!! Peggy was a great host! She reached out to us a few days early to share that her land had recently been in the path of some severe weather; trees were down, and their electricity was still out. She let us know that they got power back the day before our arrival, and was very helpful and friendly. Her land is beautiful and we loved our stay on the farm. Hoping to get back soon!

Absolutely beautiful property! We stayed at Peggy’s farm for 3 nights & 4 days. I would highly recommend this Hipcamp to anyone thinking about giving it a try. We’ve done 11 Hipcamp’s and this one is definitely in our top 3. The pond is the gem of this place, an absolute bird’s paradise. Some things to be aware of: Peggy’s house is close to the campsite (luckily we were alone on the property for the whole weekend, so it felt very private. Other than Peggy’s home, there are no other homes in site. Don’t even think about going bare foot under the shade trees near the picnic table, there are huge seed pods or nutshells that come from those 2 trees and they are covered with hundreds of very sharp thorns. Our poor little dog stepped on them so many times, mostly because we chose to camp in this area because of the lovely view. We did experience a few tick bites but fortunately they were very large ticks and easy to see. We weren’t able to walk much of the property, trails weren’t clear or mowed. We did hear trucks & planes several times Thursday night, but not much on the other nights.

Our family of 5 had a lovely time. It's quiet, secluded, and our little camper fits perfectly, and we appreciate the power and electricity. The grounds were well maintained. My husband and son caught some fish. Peggy was very hospitable and even offered to show us the restored barn. We really appreciate that people open their properties. Hipcamp is so much better than crowded campgrounds.

The Hipcamp experience I have had!

The place is not to far away from the city which was great. Peggy was an amazing host and told us about it's history, etc. The night sky was beautiful if you are looking for some stargazing. We pitched our tents close to the pond but slept outside. The ground was flat with soft grass so we had a perfect sleep! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone!

Peggy has a beautiful spot on a quiet farm. Although we were there slightly after the peak foliage it was still a lovely setting. If we weren’t passing through cross country it would have been nice to stay there longer.

Large Fire pit with a gorgeous view. A good place amongst good company. Check with the host about hunting season, as that may determine whether or not your party can go into the woods. Our party had a dog, who had plenty of space to roam. If you forgot some things on your trip, there is a Safeway nearby that’s very convenient.
