In general, this was a great site for my husband and I who were looking to hike near Duluth. The site was well maintained, more than enough firewood was provided, and the sunsets were beautiful on the bench on the hill. It was generally quiet and quaint.
That being said, if you're looking for a more secluded option I would not book on a Friday. Friday is pizza night and we luckily were able to make a reservation to attend - absolutely delicious and would recommend! However, we had a lot of pizza night guests walking through our campsite and kids running around for several hours which was a bit unpleasant.

It was very easy to find, nice flat space for tent. There is a fire pit, a table with benches and they had provided fire wood. There is a port-a-potty on the site. Potable water is by their outdoor wood fire oven. We weren’t able to do the pizza night when we arrived (Friday), because we weren’t aware reservations were needed.
You have to drive right by the event tent to get to the campsite, which wasn’t an issue for us. However, there was a wedding reception on Saturday at the event tent from 4-8. We weren’t made aware of this until Thursday before our arrival on Friday. It would’ve been nice to have known this before booking. We had to adjust our plans so we weren’t driving through the reception.

This is a gorgeous, private site with great hosts. Be sure to get the farm tour and thank me later! There’s plenty of space surrounded by flowers, a big fire pit with cooking grate, a big table, space for your vehicle, tons of wildlife, and a beautiful bench atop the hill that’s a short walk from the site.

Loved tent camping the Hideaway at Fairhaven Farms. Loved that you’re tucked away from everything, this place is perfect for unplugging and being one with nature. The view of the farm as well as the campsite were stellar. John and Emily are excellent and friendly hosts. 10/10 will be coming back again.

John and Emily’s land was really nice! It was raining all weekend and they were super generous with their property, allowing us to take respite from the rain in the barn. The pizza night on Friday was delicious and a very cool scene. We enjoyed our stay on their property!

When we arrived on Friday, they had a pizza night going on with live music. So fun and the pizza was great! They even had gluten free and vegan options!
The campsite was beautiful! Just around and up a little hill. It felt very secluded. The porta potty was clean. Loved the views and the sunset bench.
The only issue we had was a dog that barked all night long. Not sure which house it belonged to in the area but it barked a lot. Ear plugs helped.
I would stay here again. It was a lovely spot! Just remember ear plugs :)

Amazing Site close to Duluth!

My friends and I planned a weekend trip to Duluth and quickly realized that all of the state camping spots were reserved months ago. We came across this spot on Hipcamp, and were pleased to find out it was only 25 minutes from Duluth. The camp spot is private, clean, flat, scenic and perfectly set up. The site included dry firewood, drinking water, porta-potty, fire pit with a cooking grate, a picnic table, and plenty of room for cars and tents. John and Emily were wonderfully helpful and responsive! I would absolutely recommend this site for anyone who wants a calm, quite camping experience with the option to hit Duluth for some Lake superior fun. 10/10

What a great campsite! Plenty of open space for larger groups, but would also feel perfect for a couple's getaway. The sunset bench was a really fun addition to the site. John brought enough water and firewood to last the weekend and was just a quick call away if we needed anything. We didn't get a chance to do the farm tour or enjoy their pizza oven, but those would be a fun addition to your activities! Highly recommend this site with close access to Cloquet, Jay Cooke State Park, whitewater rafting, and Sax Zim bog. We'll be back for sure!

Perfect anniversary boondock spot

What an amazing place with a charming pair of owners in John and Emily! We were cel eating our 16th anniversary and the first weekend away from the kiddos in 11 years. The campsite is huge, even for our 33’ travel trailer, so no worries there. A few mowed paths are linked to the site and the farm is close by, but you get plenty of privacy at the camp site. Nice fire pit with some wood ready to go. The place is quiet, though there are train tracks a few miles away where the occasional train horn can be heard (didn’t bother us). Opt for the farm tour, it’s 100% worth it and John and Emily will show you their market farming techniques in detail all around their beautiful property. Can’t wait to come back and try the pizza made with ingredients grown onsite!

The camp site was perfect, it is tucked away behind some trees so you have your privacy. There is a lovely trail up to a hill where you can watch the sunset, then walk back to the site for a evening camp fire. I was lucky enough to book on a night when the Pizza Farm was in full effect and got a full tour of the gardens! Such a unique camping experience, highly recommend to anyone.
