Robber's Roost Tree House

100% (2)
Treehouse · Sleeps 4
Magical tree house nestled among oaks on our beautiful 200-acre national park-esque ranch fringed in gorgeous limestone boulders surrounding a spring-fed 15-acre private lake with outdoor living area and sand beach. Great for swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and excellent fishing. We are 5 minutes from downtown Excelsior Springs, Excelsior Springs Golf Course and 3EX municipal airport. We live on-site and will generally be available throughout your stay should you need or desire. The space Our magical, light-filled tree house is nestled among beautiful oak and sycamore trees perched above an ephemeral rock creek. The room includes a new Oeko-Tex talalay latex queen bed with plush bedding, rugs, small writing desk and reading chair with lamp as well as two verandas with lounge chair and tables. A lithium battery pack is provided for lighting, phone/tablet charging and powering the huge ceiling fan for keeping comfortable on warmer days *please note that the battery pack does not support heat sources including electric kettles, burners or heat blankets. The three windows that open include screens to keep the tree house bug-free. For the chillier months we have installed a propane fireplace that keeps the tree house very (very) toasty and romantic. There is a french press for morning coffee and a glass and ceramic water dispenser of filtered drinking water. You can heat water for coffee, tea or hot cocoa with the kettle on the propane stove on the deck which is also great for cooking breakfast or other meals in the cast iron skillets (provided). We also have coolers and ice available upon request (for a small fee). Outside there is a bistro table for relaxing and enjoying the forest scenery and wildlife. The site is secluded but we have improved the gravel road and most guests may follow us almost all the way down to the tree house depending on weather conditions. If you do not have an all wheel drive or 4x4 vehicle we are happy to take you and your gear down to the treehouse in our Ranger ATV. :) We are available to drop you off before 7 pm and to pick you up after 7 am. While the treehouse does not have indoor plumbing there is a cute wooden outhouse located near the foot of the treehouse stairs. It includes a modern composting toilet (Nature’s Head). It is extremely clean and easy to use. The outhouse also has a small sink with soap and water with a foot pump for handwashing and such. There is a large stone fire pit (firewood kit is available for sale for $15 for a large bundle with firestarter and newspaper or you are welcome to bring you own) and national park style charcoal grill. We allow pets to join you on your adventure but are not allowed on the beds or furniture. We do charge a small additional $15 for extra cleaning required (included in rate when pets are added) and owners are responsible for any damage done by pets. Guest access The tree house is nestled deep in the woods which have improved trails throughout for your enjoyment. I am happy to send you an AllTrails map or PDF map I have made of the property. You are also welcome to come up to the lake and enjoy the covered outdoor room with couches, lounge chair and television. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a book or movie or sit and watch the rain (or snow!) fall on the lake. There is a sand beach and swim/fishing dock (where the kayaks and paddle board are tied up) just below the outdoor room as well. It is a public space so may run in to some other guests or ourselves relaxing there from time to time, but it is generally pretty quiet. Other things to note Pet Rules: Well-behaved pets are welcome, but must be leashed in common areas and are not allowed on the beach unattended or on the bed or furniture inside the tent and bringing their own bed/blanket is recommended. A small $15 cleaning fee is charged for extra cleaning required for pets and the owner is responsible for any damages by their pets. Lake Rules: Adults or children with limited swimming ability are required to wear life vests while in or near the water. No glass containers around rocks/lake. No diving or jumping from shore or rocks. Keep gate closed from beach and outdoor room. The lakefront common area closes at dusk for safety and privacy. Courtesies: Please remove shoes before entering treehouse if it is snowy, wet or muddy or just because you'd like to keep our rugs tidy. :) Close doors and windows upon departure in case of unexpected rain.
