Jesse and Chantel are the kindhearted and dedicated keepers of this beautiful oasis. With twelve acres of pure forest and sweet river waters, our vision is to preserve and honor the ways of our ancestors for seven generations to come; and serve the community by sharing our indigenous practices. We are a healing Native American Sanctuary, and nature is our church so to all who are called to come and be present with gratitude and respect for the power of this planet. Enjoy this majestic sweet forest and feel the beautiful energy it has! We will share our indigenous ways with all who want to come join and pray with us. Each brother and sister will receive cedar to pray with their fire which represents Great Spirit(Yaya Guaturey), you can set your intensions to release what no longer serves your lives, and then to make space to receive what will bring harmony in. The East Mongaup River flows right along our land. We keep it clean and charged with good vibrations. It will surely melt away any stress you carry; sending you back home feeling renewed, restored, and rejuvenated! Our Taino Woods Sanctuary, a.k.a Fairy Magical Sweet Land, of twelve acres in the Catskills is the perfect place to commune in prayer, pitch your tent, gaze up at the stars, and unwind next to a nearby fire. Welcome to the Okama Abon River Sites! (You cannot drive up to your site) Our Fairy Magic Sweet Land of 12 acres in the Catskills is the perfect place to come set intentions and pray in nature, pitch your tent, gaze up at the stars, and unwind next to a nearby fire. We provide each of our guest with cedar to pray with their fire. A beautiful way to connect with Great Spirit to release what no longer serves you and to receive what will. 🙏🏽This raw, soft, organic land is a home teeming with life. Listen to the birds as they sing throughout the day and into the night. (We call them the fairies.) Look for the curious creatures that walk the earth like the frogs and newts. Open your ears to the sweet sounds of the East Mongaup River; and perhaps take the brief walk down to visit her. A 5 to 10 min walk from your car. LOCATION: We offer two River campsites for a more private experience. The River’s sounds will soothe your body, mind, and soul. There is a designated path and portion of the River’s grounds for our other campers to visit and experience the River; this section is not a part of your private campsite. ^^We offer wood for sale, and prefer that you do not bring your own wood (due to foreign bugs)^^ $1 a piece cash. ^^We also offer ATV service to bring your items in $25 round trip cash^^ The River visiting hours are from 8am to 7pm. Each campsite has their own fire pit. Please do not create your own fire pit.   AMENITIES: We have a single outdoor bathroom right alongside your campsite as well as one outdoor shower, with hot and cold water. An outdoor kitchen with a sink, small stovetop, and basic utensils is available for all campers to use. The kitchen is a communal space, so campers must clean up after use. An indoor tent heater to keep you warm is available to rent upon request. Bundles of wood and fire starters are available for purchase. A single quad pickup to bring your belongings down to your campsite as well as a single quad return to your vehicle at the entrance of the land is available for purchase as long as prior arrangements are made.  PROVISIONS: Our land is home to an array of life. With this in mind, we highly recommend that you bring and use a bug repellent, properly check your body each evening before bed, and properly check your body when you return home. In addition, it is important that you store your food above your campsite in a tree or in your vehicle. As campers in the Northeast, wildlife including bears; so it is imperative that you are not sleeping with the food that you bring. Our purpose is to preserve the land, so we ask that you do not disturb any of the trees or foliage by carving into them, sitting on them, breaking them, or removing them. We prefer to not have alcohol on the land, but if you wish to indulge, keep it at your site, and ensure that the land is kept as it was or better when you arrived. Please drink responsibly and respectfully on your campsite only. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: A few excellent local restaurants include The Pickled Owl, The Red Dot vegan, Nelly’s Latin, and Tilly’s Diner. Eight people can stay comfortably in our bell tent. We offer two sleep-able cots inside, and a full-size air mattress, you still have room to add more camping furniture, such as a sleeping pad, or a sleeping bag to lay on top. This campsite also has the space for two additional camping tents for an additional fee, this must be scheduled ahead of time. This campsite has its own fire pit too. LOCATION: Looking for a romantic getaway? Our Okama Abon (Listen to the River) campsite is the perfect place! Tucked alongside our nature trail to the River and with a great view of the River’s beauty, Okama Abon is our new favorite spot. Our site has a bell tent meant for two with a full-size blown-up bed, a mattress topper, two stools for alternative seating or storing, and some decorative lighting. Please bring your own sleeping bags and lanterns for extra comfort and nighttime visibility. This bell tent is sitting atop a large deck with two chairs for easy stargazing or comfort for sitting near the fire pit. *We ask that you remove your shoes before entering this beautiful bell tent to respect and keep its integrity and beauty. There is a small awning outside of the tent to keep your shoes dry. Our Okama Abon campsite is the spot to relish in the beauty of the land and the sounds of the River all through the night. 7 to 10 min walk from your vehicle then down steep steps, take your time and pack light. Or rent the Atv to bring your things in and out. This campsite has its own fire pit too. Please do not create your own fire pit. We prefer to not have alcohol on the land, but if you wish to indulge, keep it at your site, and ensure that the land is kept as it was or better when you arrived. Your bathroom will be next to Caney number 6 on the map. Akuniel & Guatu Ninaru -River Sites
We had such a magical time at Taino Woods! The river sites are idyllic and far enough from the other sites to feel quite private. We enjoyed wading in the river with our dog, listening to the birds, and relaxing in our hammocks and just taking in the peace and quiet. We also loved hearing our hosts singing to greet the morning and evening!

I love this site! This was our second time visiting and booking the same site! It is comfortable and has its own picnic area and fire pit set in which is amazing! We have small children so it was really accommodating of them! The outdoor kitchen located further in the land is helpful! The stories and experiences shared are beautiful and I look forward to returning and participating

Chantel and Jesse are incredibly kind and attentive and the way that care for and celebrate the land is beautiful. I appreciate everything that they did to make our stay more meaningful, enjoyable, and even convenient by guiding us on how to connect with the fire and land and letting us park in their personal driveway which was closer to our campsite. But there are a few things that gave me mixed feelings. The first is that because external firewood is (understandably) discouraged - we purchased firewood from them that ended up being wet. The wood they sell is very cheap and they even drop it off right to you at your campsite. But the weekend we checked in was a bit rainy so the firewood we bought was wet/unusable the first night. They do also offer duraflame indoor/outdoor logs for purchase which is nice and is what we did. Unfortunately it’s not recommended to cook over the indoor/outdoor logs though. The biggest bummer was getting covered in pee. For bathrooms, they offer slide compost toilets and also say you can go in nature. I would recommend just going in nature. When I was pulling the lever to “flush” the compost toilet, it malfunctioned and sprayed pee all over my arms and legs. Unfortunately the showers, which I understood ahead of time were not guaranteed to be functioning, were not available for use that weekend. Honestly just a perfect storm of unfortunate events there. Chantel and Jesse are lovely, their land is beautiful, I’m just probably super unlucky.

Such a beautiful set up and location! Even though it had been snowing we were toasty by our fire and in the tent. We all loved it.

Okama Abon Bell Tent, River View
We had a wonderful time in Chantel and Jesse’s beautiful church! The tent setup was sturdy and charming, and since it was going to be really cold at night, they let us rent a portable heater, which made it really comfortable. We could hear the creek from our deck; it was so peaceful. The facilities were also even nicer than we expected; the compostable toilet is basically a whole bathroom with a shower, and the outdoor kitchen had a sink that was really helpful for washing our camping dishes (as well as a stove and utensils, which I’m sure others who don’t bring their own gear would appreciate). Best of all, our hosts were just so kind, generous, and joyful, from singing in the morning to pleasant conversation whenever we crossed paths. It would be a great place to come back to in the summer with a big group of friends.

Loved tent camping at Chantel’s land. It was a very peaceful experience for us. Big bonus with having an outdoor shower right outside of the site we picked. Definitely looking to come back and hopefully with some friends. The walk from the parking site to the site was maybe like 5 minutes. If you pack heavy you might have to take a couple trips back and forth or have them take your things which I believed is an amazing service even though we didn’t use it.

From the moment I arrived to when I left, the hosts Chantel and Jessie were warm and friendly. They were very generous and engaging when I asked questions or mentioned I was having trouble. The site itself was beautiful, I stayed at one of the river sites. It was a wonderful experience camping next to a river and hearing it all night long. There was some privacy, as you were not right on top of your neighbor and could enjoy your own private patch of wilderness. They had some amenities onsite that were a nice touch, like the outdoor kitchen, although I did not use it. I would happily book with them again.

River site at Taino Woods was beautiful and our family had a great time. Our host Chantel and Jessie was very welcoming with great hospitality. We will definitely be coming back soon.

I was pulled by all the rave reviews about Chantel and Jesse’s beautiful land and campsites. They did not disappoint. We camped on the river sites and it was just as picturesque, serene, gorgeous, magical and romantic as described. It is remote and secluded so there is plenty of privacy. Chantel and Jesse were friendly, accommodating and very helpful hosts. 10/10 would recommend!

Loved our Autumn Stay!
Okama Abon Bell Tent, River View
We can’t say enough wonderful things about our stay with Chantel! The land was so peaceful and full of fall foliage. The tent was on a lovely raised platform, and came with a canvas tent and comfortable floor mattress. We cooked all our meals over the fire pit with grate included. The community kitchen was so helpful for washing dishes, and the compostable bathroom was great. It was a fantastic, and Chantel and her husband, Jessie’s warm hospitality made it such an easy and restorative getaway from life in the city. Thank you! We can’t wait to come again!

I absolutely love this campground and will be returning in the future! It is a nice, quiet little sanctuary in the woods with more amenities than it should. The camp sites are very well maintained and there are even outdoor showers, bathrooms, and a kitchen available for use. The river was extremely relaxing and nice for a cold dip in the water. The hosts are fantastic and created a fantastic environment. They went around singing every night and morning during our stay which was very welcoming. I would highly recommend staying here. I can't wait until I can return!

What an amazing experience! We celebrated my wife’s birthday weekend at this majestic property and we can’t wait to come back. The warmth and kindness of Jessie and Chantel was felt immediately upon arrival. They were so helpful with everything. Sleeping next to the sounds of the river was fantastic. Our dog loved the property, and she happily walked through the shallow area of the river. Really recommend staying here if you’re after relaxation and nature!

Yokahu Bell Tent
We truly had a magical stay at TainoWoods. My family stayed in the Yokahu Bell tent. The tent was so spacious and the air mattress were super comfy. We were a quick walk to the river and the shared kitchen provided us with pans and utensils to cook with. Our hosts provided us with a very special gift by singing for us and smudging our group. We also loved laying on the stargazing deck.

We had such a peaceful, comfortable three night stay by the water. The site was well cared for and the hosts inviting and kind. I’m grateful for the small time I spent helping to support their sacred ritual spaces in nature. Thanks for everything, Chantel and Jessie.

we could not make it to thr csmpground, due to weather and personal issues, so cannot comment on the actual location. it was too late to cancel so we werent expecting a refund on the actual camping charges. However, i am a little miffed that they refused to refund the rent fees for an 8 person tent we had added on (especially when it seemed they Did Not have an 8 person tent and had earlier asked me if i was ok with 2 4-person tents). But very responsive hosts and it does seem like a nice place.

We had an amazing time staying at the Bell tent! Unfortunately we were not prepared for the rain and our tent got soaked the first night we came. Chantel very generously let us stay at the Bell tent which saved our weekend! It was very cozy and comfortable, and we loved sitting on the deck and using the fire pit. Chantel and Jesse are amazing hosts, thank you so much for having us and teaching us! We'll definitely be back.

This is the third year my family came here and we plan to always come back. This is a very peaceful and healing place which is perfect for relaxing. The owners have an abundance of love for the grounds and go above and beyond to make sure that every camper has more than what they need. I love the outdoor kitchen, it’s always my favorite, as well as, the river and outdoor shower. There is a very positive and healing atmosphere here and it is such a beautiful place.

As always Taino woods is an awesome experience for me and my guys. This is our third year visiting and this time we stayed by the river. What a lovely and fun experience. Had great time just enjoying nature, exploring the river and enjoying each others company. Chantel and Jessie are ALWAYS on point with their attention and care , they are a host power couple. I would 100% recommend trying this place.
