We loved this spot. Everything we needed and more was available for a comfortable stay. Richard was friendly, helpful, and good communicator. The land was peaceful and well taken care of- plus two friendly dogs :)

This place was so beautiful and relaxing! It had all of the amenities to make camping easy for a larger group. It was nice not to pack everything we would need ourselves. We had a lovely time cooking dinner and spending time in the shared spaces like the little covered areas and fire pit area. It was also easy to explore different spots in the area. A short drive to Blue pool and Clear lake. There was a little convenience store close by too.

We loved staying at this hipcamp! It's definitely one of my favorites I've ever stayed at. The site itself was clean and spacious, and it was nice to not have to bring any of our own gear. A tent, two cots, firewood, cooking gear, a table and chairs, and hammocks were all provided. There was also a bathroom that was super clean and had toilet paper. It was a bonus that it's dog friendly, and our dog loved it as well. The location is perfect, tons of outdoor activities in the area!

Absolutely one of the most gorgeous, private and serene locations we’ve ever stayed. Attention to detail was amazing. From the beautiful fire pits (with unlimited free firewood), the rain shelters, solar lighting, double hammock and furniture made from their own small saw mill (wood from fallen trees only) the campsites are immaculate. Ours was set at the edge of a pristine meadow surrounded by a healthy forest of doug fir, sugar pine, maple and more. It is a birders paradise, alive with the sounds of wild turkeys, tree swallows and pileated woodpeckers. Walking along a lovely creek, past a pond of native cutthroat trout and getting a tour of one of the healthiest vegetable gardens we’ve seen by Richard, the owner, was one of the many highlights of our stay. We really appreciated at how environmentally conscious the owner is with this property. There are lots of trails in the vicinity. We hiked the McKenzie River trail from Sahalie Falls to Blue Pool and back - stunningly beautiful! Castle Rock trailhead is only a 2 minute drive. Can’t wait for our next stay!

My family loved our weekend getaway here! Richard provides you with just about everything you need. The property is beautiful, our 2yr old loved looking for rocks by the creek. It’s a perfect spot for stargazing as well. We enjoyed seeing all the wildlife, especially the turkeys and hummingbirds! Lots of good hiking nearby too. :)

Richard thought of everything! The campsite was well-equiped with all the amenities for an Oregon campout; covered picnic area, plenty of firewood, well designed and built outhouse, hammock, beautiful, scenic landscape, quiet and private surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close to hiking trails, rivers, and hot springs. We will be back!

Tranquil refuge. Inspiring multi-faceted use of the surrounding acreage. Pristine site with very cool hand-crafted structures and thoughtful amenities. Richard's property is absolutely beautiful! He was very welcoming and kind and gave us fruits and vegetables from his garden. He told us about the history of the property. He thought of all of the little touches that make a great camping experience. The tent is already set up for you with 2 cots inside. Patio/tent cover to enjoy rain or shine with lights. There are lights down to the bathroom. I would recommend this to anyone, single or with a family. Lots of land to walk, wildlife to see, a pond and fire pit. Close to Terwilleger hot springs, Belknap and blue pool. Such a great experience!

This was my second time staying here and it was just as amazing as the first. Richard really equips you for an excellent trip and it’s the perfect balance of traditional camping and glamping. The land and space is so well cared for and truly beautiful. We visited Blue Pool and Clear Lake during our trip.

First time using HipCamp but definitely not our first time camping. Reserved this spot to try out camping with a 6 month old and 3.5 year old. It was great! All the amenities made it so comfortable and easy to get set up with two kids. We appreciated all the stuff that was set up, especially the battery powered water faucet, super clean portapotty, and huge tent with two cots and lots of lanterns. It’s obvious the owner has thought of all the things that campers use to made it a comfortable visit. We loved using the fire pit at night and walking around the property to explore with our dog.
This place set the bar high for our first hipcamp experience.

We had a great stay on Richard's property. The directions were clear & he was easy to reach.
Richard greeted us upon arrival & made us feel at home.
The campsite had a large platform for setting up our tent, there was a very nice picnic table, benches, firepit & solar lights as well. It was very peaceful & comfortable.

This was without a doubt, hands down, the BEST hipcamp my friends and I could’ve hoped for. From the pictures I assumed it was going to be beautiful but the up keep of the site itself put the pictures to shame. It was clean, exactly what was advertised and more. Immediately upon arriving we were welcomed by our new best friends, Annabelle and Daisy the two yellow labs who are as sweet as could be that Richard owns. Richard was welcoming, personable, kind, and hilarious. There were 3 extra hammocks that were so nice to relax in while the sun set over the trees. The tent itself was huge with two cots, carpets, a mini vacuum, and two shelves. Right by the campsite is a little creek that was fun to follow and lightly wade in. The outhouse was extremely clean and a good distance from camp. Annabelle stayed with my friends and I for awhile and kept an eye on the forest as any good guard dog would do. We will 100% be coming back!

Castle Rock Farm is hands down the best camp site we have ever stayed at. The tent setup, kitchen area, and outdoor bathroom is fantastic. Everything was well-organized and super clean. We were provided plenty of power sources, water, and cleaning supplies to stay comfortable. The location is also very private and has plenty of space for kiddos to run around and explore. Richard provided us a brochure of things to do around the area and even went out of his way to assist us when we accidentally locked our keys inside our truck (saving us a lot of time and money). McKenzie is also a beautiful area with plenty of things to do, we could’ve easily spent a week there. Richard is an incredible host and his attention to detail is unmatched. We will definitely be back again!

What a comfortable and beautiful place. As a woman that travels alone with my dog, I can’t think of a better place to camp. Richard and his dad, Gene, are the most gracious hosts. They are so knowledgeable about the area and exceptionally welcoming. I had total privacy and security at the same time, the perfect balance for my pup and I. It’s a lovely setting. So very dog friendly, with ponds and trails to enjoy, fresh fruit from the garden, and beautiful bird watching. If you need a place to decompress, this is it.
Notes:
1. I’m glad I brought dog treats so the resident beautiful golden lab named Annabelle would visit, she’s a joy.
2. Bring kitchen supplies if you plan to cook: there are cooking ranges, a percolator, and dish bins, but bring your own cooking pan, spatula, dish soap, cups, etc.

Great spot! Richard has done a great job stocking this site, as well as providing a very clean & cozy tent, dining table, chairs, etc. We were very comfortable.
There is also a small creek nearby and an adorable flock of turkeys that make the rounds. The site is definitely private and family/kid friendly.
Richard is also communicative and responsive. We would highly recommend! :)

What a gem…. Five stars! This site is a super special find. I’ve never quite seen anything like the attention to detail and craftsmanship at any Hipcamp site or regular campsite. It is equipped with everything you need making your experience super smooth. The tent and cot set up is super comfortable. The grounds are tranquil and well kept. Richard is a fantastic host and has gone above and beyond to curate a special experience for his guests. The site is easy to access while still being close to town yet feeling extremely private. Highly recommend and we hope to return soon! Thank you for having us Richard!

This campsite was a dream to stay at! It is so well designed and made camping an absolutely wonderful experience. The site is beautifully maintained and is extremely private and accommodating. Richard is so knowledgeable about the land and we loved exploring the surrounding area. It’s also so close to many fun swimming / hiking spots, which is a plus. We will definitely be back!

This is a well taken care of campsite. Plenty of room, quiet,convenient, and surrounded by a mature douglas fir forest. Richard was a wonderful host, he even gave us a bag of fresh plums fron his orchard. 🙃

The big maple shelter is beautiful and has so many thoughtful touches! We enjoyed the peace and quiet while still being close to restaurants in McKenzie Bridge and some great hiking trails. Watching the deer, turkeys, and other wildlife was so nice. Richard is a very organized and considerate host and has done a great job putting this site together! It sounds like he has more exciting plans for the land in the future too. We will definitely come back.
