Forested Cabin Retreat
John and Sandy are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The grounds were amazing and we enjoyed the trails, water, games, but especially the maze. We chased butterflies, caught frogs, saw fairies, and ventured into the 100 acre wood. It was a great chance to relax and escape from the stress of daily life.

The cabin was lovely, perfect getaway to unplug and focus creative energies. The labyrinth is beautiful and entrancing. Apparently beavers dammed up their stream (we didn't see them, though we did hear one splash in flamboyantly) and it made for lovely kayaking. Sandy and John were gracious and helpful hosts. We hope to come back for another brief creative escape.

My bf and I had a great time staying at Sandy and John’s cabin! They were very welcoming along with their dog. Got to see beavers swimming in their stream from the cabin window. Feed the goats and chickens. Would definitely stay again!

The hosts are very kind, accommodating, and communicative. The cabin felt loved and was clean and comfortable. It even had some basic cooking equipment, and plenty of sleeping spots and firewood. The property also features kayaks, a treehouse, and a walking trail in the nearby woods. I would recommend Fern Rock Campground for any group or occasion, anyone looking to reconnect with nature, and a pair of good boots for the trail. 10/10 would HipCamp again!

Sandy and John have created a lovely property with activities and spirit!
We stayed cozy with the wood burning stove in their creekside cabin as the autumn winds blew outside. The cabin is well appointed with everything you might need. A wonderful weekend retreat!

The site was very quiet and peaceful. Furniture in the cabin was comfortable and the small kitchen was well-outfitted. Directions to the site were very clear.

Very nice place. Cute lil walking trail. Owners were very accommodating. There was a power outage in the area for a few hours and they brought us candles and lit the fireplace.

Cabin by the Creek
From the moment we arrived it was clear we had arrived into a special place. The cabin was perfect , comfortable , clean and equipped with everything my 5 year old and I needed . So many activities to do it really hit the spot . Sandy and John are really kind and helpful throughout are whole stay . 5 stars highly recommended

Sandy and John are lovely, welcoming hosts and the little red cabin is perfect! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed a lazy weekend playing in the little creek, walking the cabin loop, chasing clever little jumping frogs, cooking delicious dinners, and admiring the garden. We would happily return.

We LOVED staying in Sandy and John's little red cabin. I can't recommend this place enough. The cabin itself was the perfect size, had everything we could ever need, and included really charming touches that made the stay even more special for us. Aside from the accommodations, there was plenty to do - kayaking, sitting by the water and taking in the wildlife, hanging out with the goats and chickens, and venturing out into nearby nature. Sandy and John were beyond friendly, warm, and accommodating. Amazing hosts - amazing spot. We will be back!

The Creekside Cabin was beautiful. Relaxing and a lovely opportunity to reconnect with nature. While still being close to everything you might need. Sandy and John were warm, kind and welcoming. I would love to stay for a longer visit.

We had a wonderful time at Sandy & John's cabin! The cabin is cozy and charming- and it has just about everything you need! The gardens, walking trails, creek, and labyrinth are so beautiful and peaceful. We loved seeing sweet Chico and feeding fruit to the goats and chickens.

Sandy and John were amazing hosts. From the get-go, they were so sweet to adapt to our request for a unique check-in and check-out time. Being surrounded my trees is so nourishing. The cabin had sweet, personal touches all over, and all the functionalities of a home away from home. We enjoyed using the full kitchen for a couple of meals.
I spent some of my time working and was grateful that my personal hotspot on Verizon provided my computer internet while I worked on the front screened-in porch. Loved it!

Sandy and John's cabin was just we needed to enjoy our honeymoon. Sandy's was very sweet by putting up a banner and fresh flowers 💐 Very sweet and a nice touch! The cabin is very quite and peaceful, and a great location with beautiful scenery and fun things to do. I wish we could have stayed a few more days. Maybe next year for our anniversary 😊

My friend and I enjoyed spending a few days at Fern Rock Retreat, It was the perfect place to get in touch with nature, especially being right by the water. The Cabin by the Creek was charming, peaceful and cozy. The hosts' animals added another friendly touch. John and Sandy, were great and did all they could to make our stay comfortable . We hope to go back for another visit soon.

We had a beautiful and peaceful weekend on Sandy and John's land. The cabin is cozy, comfortable and has everything you would need. There is a labyrinth next to the cabin, a little stream that you can kayak on, and a peaceful trail through the woods. The whole property is set up to support connecting to nature. John and Sandy came to greet us and were friendly and helpful. They have a very cute dog and goats and chickens! Looking forward to going back.

Absolutely lovely space for zen and relaxation away from the city but not too far for a quick weekend getaway. The hosts were spectacular and super accommodating! The scenery is perfect for mini hikes, meditation and simple reading sessions by a cozy fire. We hope to go back real soon!

John and Sandy created a very welcoming stay. We got to stay in the little cabin by the creek which is so cute and cozily renovated by their daughter. Our extended weekend stay was exactly what we needed and more!
We mostly enjoyed being on John and Sandy’s lovely property. We enjoyed walking the labyrinth, going on a little meditation/prayer walk, taking out the boat, and being in the trees. Their dog Chico was such a happy, sweet boy who melted our hearts with his cuteness. We also enjoyed a hike about 40 minutes away at Ralph Stover State Park.
We are excited to come back in the future!

My wife and I had a wonderful time disconnecting from the outside world at Sandy and John's beautiful cabin. This was an incredibly rejuvenating experience and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for an outdoor getaway.

To start, we were first greeted at our car by a happy and excited Cocker Spaniel named Chico. That set the stage for a wonderful weekend. John & Sandy live on the same larger property, and they are great. The wood burning stove already had the cabin warm. I day cabin only because of the composte toilet, but it was a small home. And I mean home. This is a comfortable time away. You are 10 minutes from a highway that has everything you could ever need. We cheated and went to get Indian food our first night, shopped at Giant, and bought cigars all within 1000 feet of each other. I have to say we felt very away from the main house and civilization. It is a private space. Although Chico did come visit us one afternoon, just to come in and say Hi for about 15 mins then he went to the door and ran off home.
If you want a quiet, warm, friendly, nature & spiritual filled space, THIS is the place. Cool bonus...everyone who has stayed there since 2013 writes in a book that stays on the coffee table. You become part of this family, part of the history of this great little house!!

My fiancé and I came down for a birthday weekend/"last vacation before our wedding" and we had a fantastic time. Sandy and John were excellent hosts, along with Chico and their goats and chickens. There are things to do in the area - an inn/restaurant established in the 1700s; a winery; hiking - but most of all, we loved the time spent on this tranquil property. Although it poured most of the weekend, we enjoyed the treehouse, roasting hot dogs over the campfire, meditating along the prayer path, watching the mushrooms and frogs and all sorts of creatures come out in the rain, and overall giving ourselves a break from the constant pace of "real life". Rejuvenating, soul-healing, above all cozy. Highly recommend!
