Lovely spot on central Whidbey

Beautiful campsite, secluded. Love the backpacking feels without the hike - tree frogs lull you to sleep and birds sing in the morning. Easy to check in and find your way around. Make time to hang in the hammock circle.

Plenty of privacy, peace and quiet even on a busy holiday weekend. Erin was quite friendly and helpful. We saw deer, eagles and woodpeckers. Overall a lovely stay.

Fern gully camp was an excellent place to stay on our cycle tour of Whidbey Island & Port Townsend. It was perfectly located on the Whidbey Cycle Route and located conveniently near the excellent Greenbank Pantry and Deli. It was so nice to end our long day of riding and be able to take a warm shower with a beautiful view. We loved being able to have a fire. Site 6 was great for our big group as it was a big field. Great field for flying a kite as well! Hosts were gracious and helpful. We would definitely come back!

This was a fabulous stay! We had our dogs (who have good recall) off leash at site 4 and we definitely felt far enough away from the other sites and the hosts house for the dogs not to bother anyone. The host was fabulous and very friendly! The campsite was cozy and exactly what we needed! Only thing was it was pretty buggy (mosquitos) so bring a citronella candle and repellent! We HIGHLY recommend!!

Close to the bathrooms, shower, and hammocks. We had to bring 2 cars to fit our party and there were no issues being able to park both near our site. We brought a shade tent which was nice to have for both sun and mosquitos.

Cute, clean camping!

I loved tent camping here! There was the rustic feel of the site, but it had the fire pit and felt safe because of the water jugs. It was great having the bath house and the port-a-potty, so we could still be clean. It was easy to find and close to a lot of things. There were a lot of people, but it was still quiet and our spot was secluded. Definitely recommend!

It’s a beautiful piece of land we camped by the fenced field not in the forested area it was pleasant water sink was good for washing dishes but floor was actually breaking thru the floor boards so don’t count on the bathtub situation in its condition overall it’s a beautiful spot just rough it and enjoy

Our stay at Fern Gully was excellent. Morgan has a nice setup. We stayed in site 1. The site will fit pretty much any size tent(ours is 10x14). The portable bathrooms are clean and not to far from the sites. The shower is entertaining, it is functional but could use some work. The bath house is cute. We didn't need to interact with Morgan so aside from waving a few times we were left alone. The site is private. We enjoyed the central location on the island so we could explore the area.

Serene gem on Whidbey

Absolutely loved our time in fern gully! Campsites are spaced apart, equipped with fire pits (with a shovel and water to put out the fire) and ours even had a table with chairs. The host and her mother are delightful, helpful and will keep their respectful space from the campsites. This serene property has wildlife living within that you’ll see in the day and hear throughout the night as well as two roaming cats and a dog who are the host and her mothers(who are very friendly). I highly recommend stargazing in the hammock circle and waking up early as the sun rises and animals wake up. We are planning our next trip back ASAP :)

An oasis from the city

We loved staying at Site 4 on Fern Gully. It was the right amount of isolation that we were looking for. The site was well maintained, and the rest of the farm looked super cute as well. We loved being able to have our dog offleash. We also took our picnic blanket and laid down to stargaze at the flattened field right off our site. We would definitely be back again.

Lovely forest and farm

Fern Gully is wonderful!!! Our group (4 adults, 2 children) had a magical time at Site 3. The property itself was lovely and our site was perfect. Set back a bit from the cars, the walk in is quick and easy and well worth the small effort for the beautiful forest setting. The site felt incredibly private, a big upgrade from the close sites at most larger, public campgrounds. Even though the site is a bit on the smaller side, we were able to fit 2 tents (a 6 person and a 3 person) and still had a good amount of room to hang out. The farm setting was so peaceful and lovely, it really added to the overall experience. The amenities were also great and the hosts were very kind and accommodating. We loved the hammock circle, the running water and sinks were very convenient and the portable toilets were remarkably clean (the walk to them really isn't very long at all). We did find it helpful to bring our own tables/chairs even though a small table was provided. We didn't know what to expect because of a recent review of our site but we couldn't have been happier with the experience we had. I wouldn't hesitate to come back to Fern Gully in the future - thank you for hosting us!

Site 5 at Fern Gully Camp on beautiful Whidbey Island was a true delight. This site is tucked back behind the trees, just a couple minutes walk down a winding path. Lots of privacy and lots of space. There were 3 of us and we each had our own tent and camp chairs, plus a hammock and it still felt so spacious! The Honey Buckets and water hose were about a 5 minute walk from the site, but the privacy was worth it. We all were pleasantly surprised at how clean the Honey Buckets were (just remember to bring a light if you go after dark!) and the open air shower in the bathhouse was a great way too cool off on a hot day. When you're washing your hands at the bathhouse sink, take a peak up into the rafters of the barn next door and you might spot a nest of Barn Swallows. These birds were dancing all over and singing their sweet song in the morning. A real treat to observe such incredible creatures. The hammock circle was the perfect spot for a New Moon stargaze session. We all recommend this to anyone wanting to unplug and slow down, while still being close to everything you could need. Morgan was so helpful and kind.

We had the more private spot in the back and it was just perfect. Tree cover on a super warm day made for the perfect temperature. Decent sized space, lots of big trees and definitely surrounded by nature. We heard some owls at night! On top of the adorable hammock spot and bathhouse this is absolutely a place we will be coming back to!!

Rundown property, horrible campsite

Super rustic and rundown - not worth the price and not as advertised! The property and campsite (#3) were nothing like the pictures or description. The property and buildings were rundown, shabby and in disrepair. In addition to the six campsites on site, there is an RV park full of rundown campers with "Keep out" and "Beware" signs right in the middle of the property. What was billed as a relaxing hammock circle in nature looks out over this creepy camper park. The website claims that the campsite #3 sleeps 6, but there was barely enough level land on the site to fit one, let alone two tents for our group. The fire pit provided was rickety with broken screens. Given the fire danger on the island at the time of our stay, it was too dangerous to consider having a fire in this pit, so there was no way to keep warm or cook over the fire. There was a small rickety, broken table at the site, but too rickety to safely set up our cook stove, so we had no way to cook at all on our trip. The trail in and out of the woods to the site is longer than advertised, very narrow, hilly, rocky and full of roots. It is really not conducive to a family with camping gear for 6. The website also fails to mention that the provided bathroom is nearly 1/4 mile from the site through the rocky, narrow trail and across the property and down a hill, past the rundown RV park. One of the bathrooms had a wasps' nest just outside of it, so beware if you are allergic.

Wow, what an awesome experience it was to stay at site 2. Perfect amount of sunlight, just far enough from the site attractions but not too far and provides a beautiful site of a field looking out. Porto’s were VERY clean. hammock circle 10/10. Very dog friendly. a must stay on Whidbey island!

Site 5 is nicely secluded with shade; perfect for summer camping. Site is big enough for our 6ppl tent plus our 2-hammocks. Camp fires are allowed so bring firewood. Follow signs to site 5, parking at far end of field where the trail starts. Bring a towel & soap if you plan to use the shower / tub.

This was our 2nd stay at Ferngully & we had a great time. Love how kid friendly the camp is (perfect for the 10 yr old in our group) and the private sites.

Site 2 was a good experience. We could drive up with the car and there was enough space for our 4p tent. Porta potties and ‘bath house’ were close enough. Very disappointed though that our friends could not stay on site 3, which didn’t match description. They went back home! Not enough flat ground to pitch tent and anll gear has to be carried up a trail into the woods. Overall, the farm is not in the condition it was, when the marketing photos were taken 3 years ago. The farm animals are gone, and the property needs maintenance (damaged barn and dilapidated campers). The two porta potties were increasingly messy at the end of the weekend, as there was not trash bin available.

We loved the privacy and open space of site 4 at Fern Gully. Our pups could run around and had a blast. It was very relaxing to have so much privacy and not be staring at another campers site. For that reason I rec Fern Gully. The boho bathhouse is cute but tub and sink could use a scrub. The port a potties were spotless. We would stay here again at site 4.
