Rod’s place is truly an incredible place to stay. The number of stars is unbelievable, breakfast is a hoot, and the shower is AMAZING under the stars. The sleeping bags were excellent, and Rod’s suggestions for our explorations during the day were life-altering.
You can tell Rod cares about his camp and those camping. after a few days, I left feeling as though I’d known him for years. He accommodated for me when I mentioned I was vegetarian, and has the most excellent honey. He has an excellent sense of humor, and I truly believe breakfast with Rod was one of our favorite parts of the roadtrip as a whole.

Always a peaceful and restorative stay! The quiet can’t be beat. Cabin has all you need, and Rod is an excellent host and fun to talk to but also respectful of your privacy. I come here for solitude and to recharge. Never disappoints.

Big Quiet Tent Camping
Rod was a great host. He went out of his way to walk down the hill to our camp site to greet and make us feel welcome. In the morning he was back to make pancakes and sausage for breakfast. People talk about southern hospitality, but they can only aspire to be as friendly and gracious as Rod was to us. The sunset was amazing. The birds chattered as they settled in the tall grass. Cattle called out a last goodnight. It was a quiet night other than the gentle rush of water over rocks in the nearby stream. Darkness came quickly with a clear sky filled with stars. It was everything my daughter and I could have hoped for in a camp site. I wish we could have stayed for more than one night.

Rod’s place was beautiful! He even has outdoor showers with warm water near the tent campsites and parking spots. And he makes homemade pancakes and sausage for breakfast. Thanks Rod! :)

The owner was friendly and he made a lovely batch of coffee and pancakes before we go hit the road. The site was well-thought-out with an outdoor shower. Washroom and kitchen area.
I certainly would recommend this site. Do anyone traveling through the Wyoming area.

We loved our stay at the Big Quiet Camping, one of our most memorable experience at a campsite. Amazing scenery , beautiful nature with sunrise, sunset and starry sky. Having breakfast and chatting to Mickey about the most incredible stories of Wyoming life was so interesting and fun. The outdoor shower is super. We would highly recommend this lovely and peaceful campsite. Don’t miss it!

We loved camping here! There were plenty of spots for tent camping, though we camped out of our car. Communication was great, and we had a great breakfast! The hosts were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area.

Mickey and his dog Rickey were very welcoming and helpful! He even offered us extra sleeping bags. We had booked the Native American teepee but right after booking we were advised they were not available and were changed to the canvas tent instead. Really no biggie. I would suggest that the address in the HiCamp app be updated for non-locals. We typed in the address into gps instead of hitting the get directions button and were taken 30 minutes away. Mickey advised the H in the address stands for half but gps did not recognize that and neither did I until I ended up at a random house. My son liked the hammocks and the near by stream. This is a fun place if you don’t mind roughing it and can be understanding and flexible.

Site 4 - Small Cowboy Wall Tent
The land was gorgeous, very serene, especially at sunset and sunrise. My dog and I had the place to ourselves. Loved the outdoor cedar shower (especially the smell of the wood). My walled tent was huge - super spacious for just me and my pup. The only downside was the kitchen - I wish it was cleaner and better equipped. I was looking forward to a hot meal but didn't cook anything which was disappointing. We also couldn't get drinking water from the tank (thankfully I brought lots). Overall, a great experience - the hosts are very hands off, so you'll have to get yourself sorted but it's pretty easy to figure out and very calm.

I stayed in the geodesic dome on Rod’s property, which contained cots and a fireplace for warmth. It was a quiet farm stay with no noise besides the mooing of cows, and the cots were comfortable with a sleeping bag. Heart Mountain is clearly visible from the farm, and its location is convenient to Custer, Bighorn, and Shoshone National Forests. What made the stay great was Mickey and his dog Ricky. Mickey’s full of interesting stories about his life and the land, and he checks up on you and makes a hearty breakfast. I’d be happy to stay here again and fully recommend it to anyone passing through the area.

This was a great place to camp out for a couple of days. The owners are incredibly accommodating and kind. The site provides a “rustic” experience, but you’re near so many options for sightseeing, recreation, all that Cody, WY has to offer, Yellowstone isn’t far, and more. And the breakfast!!!!!! It was great.

We had the best time on Rods farm. It was cold when we visited and he let us stay in the geodome instead of the canvas tent we had originally booked to make sure we would be warm. He made us breakfast which was delicious, brought us firewood daily for the fireplace in the dome, and has a beautiful piece of land. Our dog enjoyed as well! If we’re back in the area, we’d definitely stay here again!!

The camp was wonderful! I got to be one of their first guests for the summer, and Rod and his people were so welcoming. If you’re interested in supporting a wonderful sustainable farm and having some good conversations, I would definitely recommend stopping by for as long as you can.

Rod's place was A-MA-ZING. I was on a x-country trip well before camping season. I booked a tent site based on a 5-day-old weather forecast that changed from being dry both nights to a snow & wind-storm on day 2. I resigned to forfeiting day 2 for a motel, but when I arrived Rod generously offered I use the dome instead. So glad I took him up on it! There was plenty of wood to keep the stove roaring, & the dome was solid, even on the 2nd night with the roaring wind bringing in the storm. The vast view is fantastic, particularly at sunset. Floor is cement & there are 3 wide cots. Pro-tip: bring a pad as by definition army cots are about as soft as a cement floor. :-) There were flannel-lined sleeping bags although I had brought my own bag and pillow. No electricity, but I travel with solar string lights which I simply attached to the lining ties on either side of the wide window. These lights + 2 candles reflected nicely. Enough light to use my JetBoil & the effect was quite cozy. Toilet is about 50 paces from the tent, spacious, has TP and mirror. I didn't use the huge covered kitchen/table area, firepit, & outdoor spool table. There are also teepees & a covered wagon. I could totally see how fun it would be to stay here when it's fully booked! Rod surprised me with an awesome breakfast of coffee, home-raised smoked bacon, pancakes & terrific conversation. My favorite part was when a bunch of cows got loose and ran all over the place. Rod prolly disagrees tho. :-)

This camping experience was awesome! We were accommodated for the colder conditions by being put in the dome on site and it was such a fun time. So much to see around the site and Rod was super flexible with our time and friendly. We will be visiting again when it’s warmer!

Amazing camping spot with some basic tools for campers to cookout. Close to Cody with good food and a walmart for any last minutes items you might need. My dog loved it

What a beautiful piece of land! The other campers were friendly, it was secluded but welcoming. Cowboy tent was exactly as it seemed, and the kitchen and fire pit were perfect. Highly recommended.

This well-appointed cabin is a sanctuary. The landscape and quiet are incredible. It’s worth it to get up an catch the sunrise on the porch. The cabin is comfortable and has literally everything you need. And you should definitely try that amazing tub! I let Rod know I was headed there for a writing retreat, and I’ll tell you—I never saw a soul except for a couple of people walking up the lane, which is just what I wanted. But Rod also called me up before I got there to offer good directions and sent a message to see if I needed any help planning things to do. That’s to say, this host is gracious, and from reading other reviews I think you could have as much or as little company or solitude as you desire. A little in awe of the magic of this place and so grateful to the hosts for sharing it. Contrary to other reviews, I was able to lock the doors at night, but did not have a key and left it open during the day. Not a concern as, like I said, nary a soul around. A true paradise. Hope to return!

The Japanese Cabin was an absolutely beautiful getaway from the chaotic city. Well built and maintained with gorgeous views of the desert landscape and Heart Mountain. Just mind the yellow jackets present. They hung around the front deck but didn't hassle us. The groundskeeper and his dog are super friendly, I'm sorry I didn't catch his name. Delicious breakfast of pancakes and sausage worth getting up early for. 10/10 would recommend. :)

I loved our stay on Rod’s land! It was quiet and peaceful. There was a little stream behind where we pitched our tent and it was lovely to relax and listen to. The stars stretch forever over the farm. Rod and Mickey were really awesome folks to get to know and they even recommended a great spot for swimming. My kiddos loved running wild and swinging in the hammocks, we will definitely return!

I honestly can’t say how the camp is. I received a call from a gentleman asking if I knew how to get there, told him no. He went on to make me feel less than competent with his tone in questioning me, which I took offense to and became uncomfortable…found a sweet campground in town with the sweetest people and super clean showers and restrooms.
