Such a fantastic site and sight! The pickle barrel is so charming and plenty comfy. Directions, access, and instructions were super clear and easy to follow (no arrival or departure anxiety!) Awesome place and beautiful setting, which was made perfect by our host Lynda! From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure Lynda was always available and very helpful for any questions and assistance. The detail and fun that went in to this site is truly unique, fun, and peaceful. Lots of areas to relax alone or gather together. The creekside setting was gorgeous. The cabin was fully stocked and well set for anything you might need. We plan on coming back!

I loved spending two nights in the Blue Heron. It's such a cozy space that was perfect for a solo getaway. I enjoyed waking up surrounded by trees and bird song while having all the creature comforts of a comfy bed, a nice little kitchen for cooking, and lovely farm fresh eggs. Also, it's close to some of Marin and Sonoma counties most beautiful beaches and forests. Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Vineyard Camping at Bad Rat Ranch

Very simple place to stay on a vineyard. Marek is a great host and is very friendly and generous. The place is pretty much exactly as described and pictured. It gets nice and chilly at night with good airflow so we hardly needed the AC unit, except during the daytime. Our dogs loved playing together all day and we enjoyed going to a wine tasting, petting horses and cows, and having a little cookout all together. We would stay again!

Weekend Trip to Zen Teahouse Studio in the forest

For our Memorial Day getaway, we were looking to have a slightly elevated camp style experience and stumbled upon this listing. Juliana’s studio was just the right mix of cozy and convenient. The sleeping arrangements were perfect and the kitchen was adequate for our needs - though we didn’t cook a lot, we did heat up our food. There was not a microwave, but the hot plate was adequate. The half bath was good and clean as well. The outdoor shower was the one I was slightly nervous about… it does take a slight learning curve but we figured it out after much googling and texting Juliana. We finally figured that the hose bib was outside the studio door, separate from the rest of the set up incl propane tank and heat tap which were in the shower area. The wind kept blowing out the gas so we had to flit in and out of the shower to keep restarting the tap which was slightly inconvenient. It was all good, although if you’re a bit paranoid about privacy like me, you may want to put up some coverings around the shower area for reassurance. All in all, it was a good relaxing stay and I would recommend it highly!

We had an incredible camping experience at Great Blue Heron. The picturesque landscape and well-maintained campsite allowed us to disconnect fully and immerse ourselves in nature. The Farm Store was exceptional; we ended up buying firewood multiple times, a testament to our love for cozy campfires. The unique shaving wood toilet was an unforgettable experience! We also explored nearby attractions like Bodega Bay, Dillon Beach, and the charming small towns. Our stay at Guido and Emily's land was truly memorable. Thank you for such a wonderful adventure!

This 200 acre farm is truly enchanting, with beautiful peacocks roaming free and breathtaking views of the Mendocino Valley is truly inspirational. I highly recommend you take the tour of the farm. . 2 nights at Whaleback Ridge Cabins & Camp

Dan went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Area was peaceful and the cabin was comfortable. He did recently add a privacy screen between the campsite and the house. Availability of on-site water and electricity makes this easier than a state or forest service campgrounds.

These glamping sites are awesome. Well equipped and furnished. Beautiful little state park with lovely waterfall nearby!

Weekend Trip to Salmon Creek Ranch

Such a beautiful spot! The ranch is gorgeous, with lots of fun animals! John and Lesley were very kind and gave great recommendations for things to do nearby. The treehouse is secluded and has everything you need. We brought food to cook and used a camping stove, but there is a grill and a firepit with a grate. Bring firewood! It was stunning and so peaceful.

This spot was wonderful. The bed is comfortable, the tent is spacious, and site 4 was definitely the best of the glamping bunch. The tent gets morning sun, but most of the site stays cool and shaded throughout the day. Note that there's a huge open space between sites 3 and 4, so they would be great to rent together for a large group. The park staff were very friendly and helpful, the showers were warm with decent pressure, and the bathrooms were clean. And the hiking was fantastic! They have a waterproof map you can buy at the visitor center for about $7 that's better than the free one (well worth it), and the free one has descriptions of the hikes including length, elevation changes, sun cover, vegetation, and views. Overall the stay was peaceful and just what we wanted. Highly recommend!

The family farm and residence were established during the late 1970s on the site of the historic Peter’s Dairy Ranch. The original farmhouse dates back to the late 19th century and survived the great 1906 earthquake. Today, the 7-acre farm is being restored to sustainably support fruit orchards, cottage flower and kitchen gardens, honey bees, a boisterous flock of chickens, and naughty shetland sheep. Our self-serve farmstand attached to our barn has seasonal flowers, organic eggs, heirloom fruit, and local goods from the farm. Our property is the perfect rustic getaway for backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll be surrounded by farm/ranch life: chickens clucking, roosters crowing, bees buzzing, and sheep bleating. We also have active nighttime wildlife: coyotes howling, raccoons foraging, owls hooting, etc. Bring earplugs if nature sounds are too much for you. The campsites are spaced far apart from one another to ensure some privacy. It is very quiet out here at night. If there are other campers you might hear them in the distance. All campsite are located overlooking the Estero and close to the grass road to enter and exit the property. You will have access to some of our pastures for picnics and leisurely walks. When you check in we will give you directions to a few special places around the surrounding area and see if you would like some grassland finished beef, lamb, pork, eggs, or vegetables all grown or made on our ranch. We offer other care packages, ask us when you arrive (include, home made focaccia, sourdough bread, local cheeses, etc...) A liability waiver will be needed to be signed. This is primitive camping, There is water but it is not potable. so bring your own drinking water. It can get very windy out here in Spring and Summer. Come prepared. We have situated the campsites to be on the leeward side and as protected as possible. We try to leave the land better off than we found it and hope that you will share the same respect for the pristine beauty of this place. We are 10 minutes away from the quaint town of Tomale and 15 minutes from the town of Valley Ford. Dillon Beach is only 3.5 miles away. In our family-friendly campground, our tents are 16-Foot Canvas and come with one queen-size bed, two futon lounge chairs (May be converted to twin beds), rugs, tables, lighting, and complementary firewood the first night. At no additional cost, we can add up to two twin beds to each tent upon request to sleep up to 6 people. 8 people max allowed at the campsite. The glamping sites include a picnic table, fire ring, outdoor seating, and room for additional tents if desired. All sites are easy walking distance to flush toilets and a bathhouse, with large, clean, coin operated hot shower rooms. There is no cell service in the park, but free WiFi is available at the Visitor Center. PLEASE NOTE that Bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) IS NOT included in a standard rental, but is available as an add-on. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bedding whenever possible. If no bedding is added, we will assume a one-queen setup with mattress covers only. We kindly ask guests to provide at least 48-hour notice if bedding will be required. Each of our areas, whether for entertaining or residing, has its own theme and is decorated with care. Each of the listings has it's own private deck or patio and then you have access to all of the common areas on the propertyWe promise you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but you are minutes from everything.Lulu’s Landing and Captain Wack’s Cove is a pirate-themed Creekside hangout, where you can enjoy a fire, except during banned season. Also a great place to capture a glimpse of the numerous critters that cruise our creek. Foxes, Deer, Squirrels, Otters, Ducks and Herons as well as numerous songbirds that feed from our bird feeder.Lulu’s Lanai is a Flamingo-themed outdoor living room and dining area with fun vintage furniture and décor.The Take- A -Liki- Tiki Shower Shack is a great place to cool off and clean up after a day on the river or exploring tidepools at the coast. There is even a puppy bath station behind it for your furry friends!The Wack Shack is our outdoor bar and grill, full of fun, colorful lights and signs. There’s plenty of equipment to cook there: appliances, a BBQ, sink, fridge and walk-up bar.We also have several apple trees, a pear tree, and tons of blackberries when in season to share with our guest. Our Veggie Garden will be available next season to enjoy also. We are constantly improving our property so please stay in the finished designated guest areas only until we open up the coming attractions.There are plenty of sites and destinations within minutes from our home too! We have Tennis, Pickle Ball, and Basketball Courts around the corner. The Russian River/ Monte Rio public beach is a short walk past the Parks and Recreation Center, and they rent Kayaks and Canoes during the summer months. The Redwood Alliance camp is just a few miles up Bohemian Hwy if you dare to zip line through the redwood canopy forest or Armstrong woods in Guerneville for those that would rather keep their feet on the ground and take a hike to enjoy the majestic beauties. Duncan's Mill is a quaint town (less than 3 miles from us) on your way to Jenner by the Sea which is just about 9 miles to the west of us. You can take a gorgeous coastal drive to Bodega that is only 15 miles away. Historic Fort Ross is another beautiful 20 mile coastal drive. Bike Enthusiast love the back roads out here and the Biggest Attraction Is… Wait for it…. Wineries are everywhere! During the summer there are several Music Venues close by too. The Rio Nido Roadhouse has outdoor music on the weekends. Rockin the River is every other Thursday in Guerneville. The Monte Rio Variety Show just celebrated it 111th year to a sold-out crowd. Zac Brown, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor are just a few Headliners that have been here in the past.We have a great Lightwave coffee shop across the creek that is a quick 5 minute walk. There are several restaurants along the river as well as a small grocery store, movie theater, and a Homemade Ice Cream Parlor that are all close enough to walk to or drive.
