What a great little spot! For how small and rustic the cabin is, it's nonetheless filled a thoughtful and useful array of amenities. Will absolutely be back.

3 nights at Cabin of the Woods at Tilden Pond

I had a great time at Robert's cabin. I was very pleased with the necessities that were provided: camp chairs, a grille to set cookware on over the fire, and a tick removal kit were among the highlights. I had fun exploring the property and paddling Tilden Pond. I did get my 2WD car stuck in the mud on the way out, though, so coming in a 4WD vehicle would be best!

2 nights at Sustainable Yurt Retreat By Acadia

Beautiful site and chock full of comfort and style. Don't hesitate, this is the one you want! Private parking, short walking trail to site. Feels very secluded, yet nota far drive to local shops and attractions. Wish I had booked a longer stay to take advantage of the kayaks and outdoor kitchen.

Weekend Trip to Graham Cracker Cabin and Campsites

This site was so refreshing ! Even with a day of rain the bell tent stayed dry! Cozy beds and bedding when we showed up ! The brook was beautiful and my daughter had a blast fishing. Happy we brought a wagon to get our things to the tent (although there was a wagon available but others already had it). The bathroom was a bit of a walk at night but it was well worth the peace and quiet for a few nights !

3 nights at Salt and Oak Farm

I usually visit NYC for my birthday but this year I decided to try something completely different and this was the full 180 from NYC. Instead of waking to the honking of traffic, it was the beautiful sounds of birds (and the friendly roosters). Though it was cold, I went into this knowing to bundle up. I brought extra blankets and was plenty warm. As another review posted, I brought battery powered string lights and a few extra candles and loved reading in the cozy bed at night. We did go through a lot of wood so we bought another bundle. Sorry to the hosts for using so much wood and candlelight! The chickens were absolutely hilarious. They surrounded us every time we walked by. I loved the mellow horses and all of the other animals. It was difficult not to just hang out with them all day. We hiked around the land and went into town a few times. Everyone was so friendly. Highly recommend for nature lovers!

Mathew is a great host and steward of the land. I had a great stay and the yurt and property were just as described. Mind you, you are completely off the grid so treat it like tent camping and come in prepared. Leave it better than you found it.

Fresh powder, thick ice on the pond couldn't ask for anything better! Definitely recommend a snowmobile with significant snow! Absolutely beautiful out there.

Planned a solo trip to unplug & reset, and couldn't have asked for a better spot. The cabin was even lovelier in person, perfect size, simple & charming... chilly at times but the space heater kept me warm. Amazing use of space... the little cooking area had everything you need but barely took up space. Saw more stars than I have in a long time. Loved the little bridge over a stream and the feeling of privacy & safety. Not much is nearby as far as amenities but great hiking along the coast (~25 minutes driving) was exactly what I needed. Linens were clean & smelled amazing. Will be back. Thank you Sienna! 🙏🏼🌲✨️

Weekend Trip to Cabin of the Woods at Tilden Pond

I have left reviews before but this was my first time winter camping there. First , yes it was cold but if your prepared you should do just fine. I'm truly torn on if it's more beautiful in the summer or the winter! The fresh snow on the trees made for great scenery as we walked down to check out the pond. Although frozen, we choice to not press our luck lol. But I will be back for the beautiful fishing I know awaits. wildlife tracks everywhere! It was truly an experience and I look forward to another return!

Caleb's yurt was a pleasure to stay in. We arrived to find a well lit campground, equipped with a gas grill, was station and firepit. The yurt was nothing short of luxurious with all the amenities. The wood stove we found packed and ready for ignition. Definitely coming back to this great, tidy campground

The location & setting were great. Caleb, the caretaker, was helpful and always available. The "smallness" of the campground (12 sites?), was what we wanted. The close proximity to lots of hiking trails and the shoreline were bonuses.

1 night at Four Acre Woods Campground

We didn’t end up staying at the yurt, but I don’t seem to be able to leave a review on the tiny house we stayed at. There ended up being some electrical problems with the yurt so we were given some options and ended up staying at Calebs tiny house in Stonington. It was so lovely and just the perfect space, beautiful view, and very accommodating. Would stay at the tiny house again and will definitely try to stay at the yurt another time. I Was also pleasantly surprised that four acres stay open so late into the season. Overall easy and welcoming stay, would recommend either the airbnb or campground just because the host are so nice.

Trailside Camp

Trailside Camp is 20X20 off grid Cabin located on West Brook Meadow in Franklin Maine. It has direct access at mile 7.5 of the Downeast Sunrise Trail. Exceptional meadow sunset views for watching Deer, Bear, Birds, Beavers and many other critters that roam the area. There is no electricity, and limited running water. It is equipped with propane stove and fridge. There is a porta potti on site This is a one room cabin with covered porch. There is no electricity and a porti potty is used for a bathroom. It is serviced on a weekly basis. There is limited hot and cold non potable water to be used for doing dishes, and hygiene purposes. Water is supplied via a handpump and a 12volt solar power system from a dug well just in front of the cabin. The cabin is very comfortable with two people, but capable of sleeping 3 especially if one is a child. There is access to a natural boiling spring locate about 3/4 mile away from the cabin (directions included in the "Arrival" paperwork. There is also an outside shower with limited hot and cold water. The Cabin is located at mile 7.5 of the Downeast Sunrise Trail which is a 83 mile multi-use corridor trail from Ellsworth to Pembroke Maine. We are ATV, and Bicycle friendly. Pets are allowed but their hair and messes must be taken care of. It is only 12 miles to Ellsworth and 30 miles to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but still feels like the middle of nowhere. We do not include towels, shampoo and personal grooming items, or pillows/linens for the beds. There are mattress covers on the bed with a comforter. This is an off Grid Experience. The kitchen is adequately equipped for cooking and refrigeration w a propane refrigerator and stove. Gas lights are used for lighting at night. Keep in mind this is a remote cabin but so close to Acadia National Park and other amenities. There may be a mouse that sneaks in. There may be insects (mosquitos, black flies, ants etc.) It is not possible to be in the woods and experience its beauty in a camp without the chance of encountering nature. If your looking for a motel room then you should book one because this is not it. We offer a peaceful place that is thriving with nature and beauty. There is plenty of room in the yard for recreation and tenting.

Also, Maine is very dog friendly. There are few places you can’t take your pet. If you’re not pet friendly, please let us know.

A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. This little cabin is secluded in the woods. There is a 200 foot path leading to it. On the right you will find an outhouse and outdoor shower, complete with hot water. On the left is the little cabin. On the porch is a barbeque grill with a griddle on 1 side. In the cabin you will find a double hot plate, coffee maker, tea jug with potable water, pots and pans as well as paper goods. For sleeping there is a full size bed in the loft and a pull out couch on the first floor (there is also a cot if need be). Though it is not far from the main house the cabin is surrounded by trees and is very private. Hiking trails abound in many directions. From a quick trip to the top of our Blueberry Hill to day hikes on the Coastal Mountain land trust trails. In nearby Camden, Rockland and Belfast, restaurants, shopping and galleries abound. There are many schooners and fishing trips available as well. At the end of the day, have a campfire in our fire pit. The firewood is provided but bring your own marshmallows. c

We are close to basic necessities, and a step away from the masses. We do educational tours daily and if interested these tours are arranged by reservation too by phone or in person only. We may allow camping in Winter months but if it is between November and May it is very important to call and find out the accessibility as weather impacts everything. The shower will likely be unavailable in freezing months and some sites are closed. CALL and speak with a staff member before reserving. Self contained Adventure Vans and tent campers with Winter Gear and Rooftop Tents can be accommodated. Lakeside Mini A-Frame

Our cute little A-frame sleeps 2 people comfortably. It comes with its own outdoor kitchen, grill and outdoor bathroom, with a hot shower and composting toilet. There is cell phone service here as well. You will also enjoy your own private waterfront space with free kayak use, hammocks and firepit with complimentary fire wood. The lake does not have a sandy bottom, so you might want to bring water shoes. We are located about halfway between Bangor and Ellsworth. The Mini is a perfect spot for day trips to the coast. Just a 15 minute ride to Bangor where you will find many local breweries, restaurants, concert venue, theaters, shopping and night life. We are only an hour away from beautiful Mount Desert Island. Our area has abundant small wildlife. We regularly see rabbits, geese, ducks, beaver, eagles, osprey and of course loons. Kayak over to our private island where there are blueberries, and a mating pair of eagles. Paddle over, have lunch, pick some blueberries for your morning cereal, go for a swim. You could also kayak through the thoroughfare to Holbrook Pond. The site is small, just 1 acre and we do live very close by. You will have privacy, but you may hear or see us or our dogs at points during your stay. We will provide a few jugs of water, but you may want to bring some of your own. Cookware, plates, cups, utensils, and cooler are available for use. There is also a gas grill available. Linens will be provided if you don't bring your own, however the bed might not be made up. Our work schedules don't allow us to be how before 4:00 to clean up from previous campers. When checking out, please strip the bed and leave in tote. Thank you for your understanding.

There is a kayak, paddles and pfd´s for free and a roll out pier for your use. The smallmouth bass fishery on the private access only Tilden pond is legendary. There are two firepits and free firewood, fire starters. lighters and a dry tinder box along with hygienic supplies (Camp toilet, Biodegradable personal waste bags, Biodegradable soap, Toilet paper, hand sanitizer and candles). The Cabin of the Woods is close to popular Mid-coast towns like Camden, Rockport and Rockland with all of their amenities while enjoying life in this off-grid all-natural and relaxing setting.
