Best camping grounds ever! So clean, beautiful and a great time! The bathrooms are wonderful, the logs for fire are awesome and everything is so easy!

Great location. 100 yard walk down the road to Bear Den brewery was perfect to wait out the rain. Nice site with firepits and good flat renting areas and picnic table. Directly off AT so short walks or long hikes are all accessible. The small nature loop to see the view was a dream for an evening walk. Perfect to get out of dc and be totally in the woods within an hour and change drive. And the price is unbelievable, what a value! I’d second the request from another reviewer to add the option to pay the parking fee in the booking! Although they have added a PayPal feature so cash isn’t required any more. Note it’s not private at all. The sites are all clustered in the same clearing. It’s a friendly vibe, and everyone was respectful, and went to bed early. But conversations spoken in normal tone were easily overheard!

My family and I had an incredible experience camping at Taylors Landing Campground, specifically at site 6, and I can’t recommend it enough! The campground is absolutely stunning, surrounded by lush tree lines that create a serene, natural enclosure. The layout is perfect—campsites line one edge, leaving the center and far side open for activities, which gives the place a spacious, community-oriented vibe. Site 6, like the others, was impressively roomy, easily accommodating our large group with plenty of space between us and our neighbors, making it feel private yet connected. One of the highlights was the nearby cave, which made for a fantastic casual hike. Our kiddo was thrilled exploring it, and it was just the right level of adventure for a family outing. The host, Greg, truly elevated the experience. He was incredibly friendly, always checking in to ensure everyone’s needs were met. Greg also organized a variety of activities for all campers, including frisbee golf, volleyball, and badminton, which kept everyone entertained and fostered a fun, communal atmosphere. From the scenic beauty to the thoughtful amenities and Greg’s exceptional hospitality, Taylors Landing Campground exceeded our expectations. We’re already looking forward to our next trip back!

The Royal View campsite was a dream! The glamping-style tent was spacious and very clean. It had pockets for airflow but also kept out some light rain we got in the morning. The campsite was set up with a hammock, a fire pit with 2 chairs, and a picnic table - everything you need to make your visit comfortable! We were right on the river, making it easy to launch off my SUP and go paddling or fishing. There are other campsites right next to each other, about 100 feet apart, but our neighbors were respectful - just keep that in mind if you’re looking for something more private. Only downside was some property neighbors up the river were blasting music until midnight enough that we could hear them but nothing too terrible. Highly recommend this spot! I appreciate Sean’s responsiveness.

It was right on the C&O canal which was really nice. I recommend site 11 since it’s on the edge of a row of campsites and you won’t have other people on both sides. Host provided more than plenty of firewood.

We had an amazing stay at Narrow Gate Farm! The site was spacious, easy to access, and equipped with 50 amp power and water. The kids had a blast playing with the friendly farm dogs and the host, Jim, was incredibly friendly and easy to reach if we needed anything. It’s a peaceful, well-kept spot with beautiful views. We’ll definitely be back!

Wow! We really enjoyed camping at Mulehalla. We stayed at site 11, and it was absolutely perfect!! This site was very secluded from the other sites and had plenty of room for us to set up camp! We brought our dog along and it was so nice for her to have some room to explore without bothering other campers! The site was very clean and perfectly mowed. The only con was that we wish there was more lighting around the bathroom area because it would get very dark at night but that’s no big deal! We would definitely stay at Mulehalla again if we are in the area. 10/10 recommend. 🤩

Greg is so nice, and his campsites are in a great location. We didn't realize that there were so MANY sites on his space, so that was a surprise, but it was great that we weren't facing any of them, just side by side, so we had beautiful views. Previous thunderstorms before our stay made the river too high to splash around in and the trails VERY muddy, but we had fun in spite of it. Truly can't emphasize enough how kind and attentive Greg was throughout the stay!

Greg was a wonderful host! The place was well maintained and as advertised. Unfortunately some recent flooding meant we couldn’t really access the river during our Memorial Day stay, but everything else was exactly as expected. He has a number of large dogs that roam the property with him, and lots of dogs staying at the campsites. It’s not a good spot if you are afraid of dogs or if you have a reactive dog. If you have a friendly and responsive dog though it’s fabulous for them! It’s also very kid friendly. The sites are very visible to one another, but spaced far apart in the field so you have lots of room to spread out. The porta potty’s are well maintained. Greg brings potable water and checks in periodically. He fixed our shade sail and offered more firewood as needed. The entryway to the camping area is a little steep and required some confidence to get the cars in and out, but was totally doable with both our CRV and our Honda Fit. Overall a very pleasant experience. I’d go back!

It’s a nice spot that we will come to again. The land is cleared but also good tree coverage. Small creek next to the site provides nice sound and kids can play as well. Playset and trampoline also good for entertaining. You can walk property to see horses, chickens and a peacock. Keith stopped by to say hi and check in as well. Highly recommend.

Probably the best campsite you’re ever gonna find in the area seriously it is conveniently located next to the Antietam Creek that turns into the Potomac river. The Potomac River is 1 block away. The National Park District owns the house which is right in front of the path that leads to the vacant lot. Also I have a legal easement to cross the national park districts land. And there is a kayak drop in off of the Antietam Creek to the right just before entering the path next to the historical Harpers ferry Rd bridge Location Location——- Antietam Creek bridge / Harpers Ferry rd. / Antietam Creek / White House on corner (national Park district owns White House on corner) You will see a red gate that you will pass during daylight hours 1000 feet on your right from there is raw land on the Antietam Creek. The only way to get in the property is to walk past the national park district during dusk to dawn hours. Please abide by these rules. It makes it safe for the campers, but if you do not comply, you will not be allowed back and the police can be called because this is the national park District that you walk past. We do have a legal easement agreement but that easement is only allowed Daylight hours. Also there’s a huge mountain next to the property which makes it extremely safe and private for campers There is only one way in and one way out. Please take what you bring and enjoy nature. You will arrive at our house, and the campsite is approximately 150 yds down the river trail. The campsite is completely private from our house. There’s great fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing from the property and also plenty more nearby. We’re only a few miles outside of Strasburg which offers great antique shops, dining, and a brewery with live music on weekends. Five night maximum permitted. We prefer that guests arrive before dark. **Note that the North Fork is a shallow river with a slate bottom. The recreational draw to this area is hard to beat in VA and this property has it all for an amazing outdoor weekend! The ranch consists of 40 acres of low-land pasture, groomed perfectly for camping groups large or small. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site offers the option to camp on our 5-acre lake or camp creekside in the Cedar Grove sites along the banks of Passage Creek. Creek access varies at each site depending on the bank. The Ceadar Grove sites are just a short walk to the lake and beach amenities. The property has 1/2mi of Passage Creek wrapping around all the campsites, as well as, the privet lake to enjoy. I have all kinds of boats to try out and the waters are stocked with Bass, Blue Gill, and Catfish. Please catch and release. Passage Creek is stocked with Rainbow, Brown, Tiger, and Brook Trout throughout the year. The prime waters are just a mile upstream from Pastimes on Passage Creek Ranch. The Creekside Cedar sites are located within a sparse, groomed, Cedar grove along the banks of Passage Creek. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so It's just boondocking. Pack it in, Pack it out. Generators are allowed but please be aware of the other sites and direct the noise away. Groups of up to 25 people per site can realistically fit. Each site is very large with car camping space included. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mirror mountain views in the background. This site also has its own dock and is just a short walk down a mowed trail to a beautiful section of Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream can cascade behind the site and run under it to feed the lake when the conditions are right. The road can accommodate bumper pulls up to about 35ft to make the turn at the site. However, it is best suited for lighter traffic and smaller tent groups. At higher capacity, single-file parking is needed along the lake road. Max 10 people in order to keep some grass on the ground. Please, if you need more space - go to one of the Cedar Grove sites. Locally, the North end of Fort Valley offers many great hiking trails, trout fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and the Elizabeth Furnace day-use park. Taskers Gap OHV/ATV park is a short drive south, and the valley is sandwiched between both forks of the Shenandoah River for those looking to paddle. Additionally, the local towns (Front Royal, Strasburg, Woodstock) offer their own charm and wide range of activities and attractions.

Note that we offer several campsites relatively close to each other, so you should expect to see and hear other campers on the property during your stay. About the listing Pitch your tent in a forested area just a short walk up from where you’ll park your car. Enjoy unbeatable proximity to hiking and panoramic views while still having basic amenities that ensure a comfortable stay. You’ll have access to a composting pit toilet, and can access potable water from the tap in the lodge. That’s also where you can access hot showers. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. Our three-season tree houses, available for spring, summer, and fall, are perched seven feet off the ground and feature small decks that allow you to enjoy the surrounding beauty. We have a total of 10 tree houses, with eight of them designed as screened-in retreats, perfect for immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of the great outdoors. Each site is equipped with an outdoor fire circle, a grill, and a picnic table, making it easy to enjoy meals and gather around the fire under the stars. Please note that our tree houses do not come with mattresses, so guests are encouraged to bring their own air mattresses or pads, pillows, bedding, cookware, lanterns, and flashlights for a comfortable stay. For your convenience, every site guarantees one parking space, and some can accommodate additional vehicles. If you are traveling with a larger group, you may need to utilize our overflow parking lot and hike up to your site.
