Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp. The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015. The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events. We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review). We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play. We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do not do checkins on Sunday but do allow camping over Sunday night. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes. We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash. CHECKIN IS BETWEEN 4 AND 8. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE BAY ALLOW 4 HOURS - YOU MUST LEAVE BY 3:00 IN ORDER TO ARRIVE DURING CHECKIN. IF YOU GET DELAYED, FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF THE OTHER CAMPERS YOU MAY CONSIDER WAITING AND ARRIVING THE NEXT MORNING. THERE ARE NO CHECKINS AFTER 9:00.

This large camping site is located behind the fire bowl area with it's own privacy fence and is a very private large site. It will allow up to 2 large tents to be set up. It does require transporting your items via carts that we provide to the other side of the creek. This is a great site for a large family or two families that want to camp together. We have 10x10 platform to place a tent on at the site if desired. Outside the tent there is a propane firepit for ambiance (to use the firepit it requires the onsite purchase of propane - add as an extra) . The site has a long picnic table and its own BBQ. It requires that you pass by sites #4 and #5 and is a smaller narrow site right on the creek. We recommend a small or medium size tent no larger than 8x10. #7 Nex Pierce - Group Tent Site This is a group campsite. It is located across the bridge and up the hill on a level site. It is one of three group site (the others are #14 and the large group site #17). This site acommodates a base of 10 campers but you can add up to 2 additional campers. It is a nice square site that can accommodate several large tents. We provide carts to help you transport your equipment. If you need to accommodate a few more campers - check out #8 that is right nearby. Often we have large groups (over 20) that book #7, #8 #15 and #15A that ensures they have the entire second level to themselves. This group site is also good for those with small children that do not want them on the creek. This site has 2 picnic tables, its own BBQ (we provide the propane) and food box (for unopened food items). You get to it by passing over the bridge, past the teepees and up the slope to the plateau sites and then left past #7 and #8. It is a fairly large rectangle site and is located between #8 and #15A further up the pathway. The site has its own picnic table along and has access to a shared BBQ (which we provide the propane). #17 Modoc - group camping on creek This is our largest group site that can accommodate a base of 15 campers but you can add up to 5 additional campers. There are two other group sites - #14 is across the road and creek and #7 is up on the plateau. If your group is larger than 20 we would recommend considering #7 (12), #8 (6) and #15 (8) and #15A (4) - that can accommodate up to 30 all on the plateau. This site provides more privacy and is located by itself along the river. It is across from the volleyball court and playground. It is a long site and easily allows for 2 large tents and multiple medium tents along the creek. It is further away from the majority of campers and requires a short walk (approximately 4 minutes) to the lodge and restrooms. There is a portapotty about 1 minute away. This site allows you to park two vehicles next to your site and and additional cars nearby.. We provide several picnic tables and a propane fire pit for ambiance not cooking (requires purchase of propane cannister on site). The site has its own BBQ (we provide the propane) and two picnic tables. It also has a large food box for storage for unopened food items). The site is private and is further away from the majority of campers and requires a short walk (approximately 4 minutes walk) to the lodge/restrooms. The handicapped porta-potty is closer. This site also allows you to park two cars right next to your site. #14 Sioux - Group Tent along the Creek This site is a customer favorite and is located along the lower creek and offers three levels. This site acommodates a base of 10 campers but you can add up to 2 additional campers. There are two other group sites - #17 (largest) and is across the road and creek and #7 that located on the plateau. There is a large platform (16x16) available to pitch one of your tents on the upper level. This site has its own BBQ (we provide the propane) and food box (for unopened food items). #3 Miwok - Large Family Teepee Creekside (NO PETS). Come experience a real teepee. This 18' teepee is located across from the creek and is centrally located right across the bridge from the lodge and restrooms. It is right next to a slightly smaller 16' teepee (#13). This teepee was upgraded and replaced in Spring 2023. We do not allow pets in our teepees. It is perfect for the family experience. Inside we provide four thick comfy mats covered in a sheet and 2 teepee chairs. We provide towels and amenities. All you have to do is bring your own sleeping bags and cooking supplies. This space will allow 4 in the teepee. We are excited to upgrade this position in 2024 from a tent camping site to a new Tree Fort that features 3 cots. The space is 8 x 9 so a little smaller and so we set it up with a bunkbed cot and then 2 4" sleeping mats (same as our teepees) that accommodate up to 4 people. This is a site located between the pathway between the creekside and plateau sites. You get to it by passing over the bridge, past the teepees and halfway up the slope to the plateau sites. BRAND NEW BELL TENT EFFECTIVE MAY 2024. This particular site has easy access located directly across the bridge from the lodge and restrooms. The bell tent is located right along the creek located near the tipis #13 and #3 as well as directly below #3A. This is a 14' White Duck Altimus (combines a bell tent with a tent cabin) that features a large doorway as mosquito netting for good ventilation. We love this tent because it brings together the best of the bell and cabin tent together. The site accommodates and provides cots for 4 and allows an additional two guests in a small tent next to the structure. Outside the tent we provide a propane firepit (that requires the purchase of propane on site - add as an extra) as well as a picnic table. There are several BBQ nearby (we provide the propane) that are available for your use in common areas. We switched from tent 4 to a clamping tent. I was looking for tent with beds. Tent 4 had four cots. Nice play area for kids. Craw fishing with the kids and a friend who was experienced in that activity. Watching deer pass by as you a rest in the hamic. Chance to unplug for a bit.

As a mother of young children who are yearning for more of outdoor, rural play, best players makes that technology even existed. An amazing family environment, and Greg is a wonderful host! So many amenities and things to do, highly accommodating for children. This place has touched my heart enough to make it an annual camping spot for us. Highly recommend.

My friend and I camped here the days following memorial day and had a wonderful time. We got really lucky and had the entire campsite to ourselves for the two days we spent there. The hike was beautiful and our campsite was Creekside, which was perfect. There’s also a small swimming hole on the property that we spent a whole day at. The lodge was comforting and had coloring books and board games. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and showers were kept clean. I would definitely recommend this site.

Great for group camping

#3A Tree Fort near Creek

The hosts and caretaker were friendly and helpful. The camp grounds itself was lovely, as was the campsite. Lots of mosquitoes but I believe regular spraying is done. The best part is despite how full the campsite was, you don’t feel the crowd. Great for large group camping is there is something for everyone from tent camping to glamping.

Epic place and super family friendly. I was there with my two daughters (8 and 10) and they loved it! Greg went to town and brought them back sugar free popsicles since they couldn’t do sugar. Was icing on the cake. Will definitely be back.

Fabulous family spot! We brought our three year old and it was perfect. We played in the creek, had smores every night with the group campfire, and really appreciated a big grass field and swing set. Hosts had everything and were very kind. It’s a little oasis, shaded and lovely riparian zone, and a great community space to interact with other campers as much or as lightly as you prefer. Will be back! And enormous thanks to the hosts!

#3 Family Teepee Creekside

This was our first time at Camp Nauvoo, and I am glad I got to spend an awesome Mother's Day weekend there with family and friends. Greg and Laurie manage the campground so well. They are both wonderful hosts and made our visit so relaxing and easy. We camped in a teepee, a wonderful experience for our kids. The toilets were clean, and everything was so well equipped. My family loves camping, and we have a couple of campgrounds where we visit every year as a tradition. Camp Nauvoo will be added to that list as it has set high expectations.

We had amazing time from check in to check out. The glamping tent we had met all our expectations with a comfortable bedding. Camping next to the creek was amazing with beautiful views. Waking up and cooking breakfast was our highlight. We are early birds so our only recommendation would be to have the Kuerig available at 6am in lieu of 9am

#10 Mini Glamping Tent on Creek

We had a wonderful time returning to our little glamping tent, this time with our daughter. The space was cozy enough and we were able to keep warm despite some cold/wet weather. We had enough space fit a pack and play next to our bed, which was perfect for us. This tent is our favorite because it is the most remote and it is where the creek is all you can hear. There are so many nice amenities with the lodge, restrooms, cooking options and campfire. Greg and Katie were super welcoming and we had a nice time chatting by the fire. It is so nice to be able to get away, listen to the sounds of the woods and just stare at the beautiful scenery. I will warn that this site is probably one of the furthest from the restrooms, but still manageable. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Had number 11 at the top. It wasn’t far up as it seemed, but it was private enough for the family and it was definitely good on the way down for unloading. I would recommend for getting away from the city.

We loved glamping at camp nauvoo! It was spectacularly clean as well as the rest of the facilities. The hosts were kind, helpful, and thoughtful. They had great suggestions for the area though there was plenty to do at the camp as well. This was our second time coming and I think it's becoming a tradition!

My group enjoyed our stay at site 14, it definitely makes the list to return for future visits. There are lots of amenities, and the grounds are very well-maintained: lovely creek and a stunning meadow. Greg welcomed us kindly and Rachel was very helpful, even leading us to the trailhead we wanted to see. Overall, it was exactly as described—clean, well-run, and immersed in natural beauty. If you’re looking for a perfect spot to connect with nature in comfort, this is it! 10 out of 10!

I brought my wife and daughter (and dogs) to camp for the first time and Camp Nauvoo was the perfect place to go. Greg and Laurie were great hosts, the campgrounds are beautiful and there are plenty of things to do for a family, including smores over a campfire. Thank you Greg and Laurie for a great weekend.

We love camping on Greg & Laurie's land. This is our second year and we always feel very welcomed. They even gave me a cupcake for my birthday! We tried the Glamping Tent #2 and were so impressed! The restrooms and showers are always clean and the property is kid friendly and creates a sense of community. We will definitely be back!

We spent a long weekend here with my family of 4 and three other families. I had the 3B campsite and it was amazing. The bell tent was plenty spacious for my family of 4. Right off the banks of the creek—my 10 and 7 year old children had a fantastic time. They didn’t ask for an iPad the whole weekend! The facilities were clean and well maintained. Plenty of outdoor activities, fishing, playground, pickleball, volleyball, and soccer kept us busy all weekend. Our children particularly loved swimming in the river and trying to catch crawfish! Greg was a fantastic host, always around when you needed him and the favorite among our kids as he was keeper of the ice cream. If you’ve never been to this campsite, I recommend adding it to your list!

We stayed on campground #12. It was a beautiful spot, shady and next to the creek. Greg was a great host, he communicates clearly and was there when we arrived to give us a rundown of the basic rules. We had the most amazing time, especially during the communal camp fire. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Terrible Experience at Nauvoo Camps

I had a very disappointing stay at the Nauvoo Campsite. The host was incredibly rude and unwelcoming, making the entire experience unpleasant from the start. The campsite has an overwhelming number of rules that made it feel more like a strict boarding school than a place to relax and enjoy nature. On top of that, the campsite itself was in poor condition—nothing like what was advertised. The facilities were subpar, and the overall environment was far from what you’d expect for the price they charge. Speaking of which, the rates are exorbitant for what you actually get. I would not recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a pleasant and enjoyable outdoor experience. Save your money and go somewhere else where you’ll be treated with respect and can actually enjoy your time.

We had a great time at Camp Nauvoo. It is a well run camp with lots of amenities and a great creek for wading, fishing and even swimming. Site 12 was a lovely, private site, near everything. Bathrooms were clean and refreshing. Camp Nauvoo is a great experience.
