Weekend Trip to Cosumnes River Ranch

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay on Rachael’s land. Excellent signage made for no confusion as to where I was going. Shady enough with a couple perfect trees for my hammock. Swimming hole was quiet and the water was warm. My dog loved it.

3 nights at Diamond Gulch

We absolutely loved it here! Waking up to dozens of cows (and cow babies) next to our campsite was so sweet. There was even a baby donkey born the week we arrived that we got a peak of. Showers are really cool, if you shower at night you look up at the night sky and the water is HOT. Host is lovely. The nature is amazing. Great for birding, too. This will definitely be our Yosemite campground whenever we return.

2 nights at Cosumnes River Ranch

Easy directions, camping spot 18 just like in photo, clean river, enough shade from young growing trees so bring a shade up as it gets hot. What works: spotless of trash, clean Porto potty, different beach access points, property big enough to be far away from other groups but close enough if you need help. Great walking score, A+river rat score. Wonderful owner Tom who asked if we had any questions & handed a map of the campgrounds and explained the rules upon arrival.

Weekend Trip to Cosumnes River Ranch

We really enjoyed our time here. We got site 13 and 12 Of course like every place has their pros and cons. Pros: spacious sites, next to the river, nature was amazing, dogs allowed, very safe, porta potty clean, you must stay 2 nights to enjoy everything. Cons: spiders all sizes everywhere falling from the trees so keep your tents closed at all times, parking not too big, site 12 has 0 shade, very dusty so bring a broom to constantly cleaning inside the tent, definitely not for handicapped or bad leg people, you take your trash with you so we got washable plates, no potable water. But sometimes you have to change some things for others and I will go back for sure to this place but diferent site. Communication was good and very clear on what you can do and can't do. Make sure you download your music since there is 0 reception however there is a wifi spot but far away.

8 nights at Kosk Creek Campgrounds

Kosk Creek is an experience I’ve never had before; it was amazing. I went camping on a holiday weekend and even with around 14 other camping groups, my friend and our 2 dogs had a huge, private, beautiful riverfront camp spot. This property is the safest I’ve ever felt at a campground. The gate to the camping area remains locked 24/7 and you’re given the code to enter and exit whenever you wish. The tent camping is a dispersed open field with places to tuck away in the foliage or along the river, there’s no assigned spots so you just pick out wherever you like. We visited 3 surrounding bodies of water to paddleboard and they were all gorgeous. The bathrooms at camp are well kept porti-potties. We were able to get a camp spot that had a nice picnic table, fire ring and seasoned wood for a fire, not all spots have tables and fire rings. There are tall trees and foliage for shade. The camp host was the nicest guy and answered all of our questions. I think I counted 6 separate hot spring tubs. They’re all on the river so you can use a 5 gallon bucket to adjust the temperature to whatever you like. My only warning is that some locals enter the upper hot springs area from an off property trail and we encountered some possibly dog-aggressive dogs. If you don’t have dogs with you, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. There’s a small general store a couple miles away in Big Bend that had everything we needed. There’s no cell service for at least 10 miles in any direction.

This campsite was nice! On a bit of a hill which made tenting hard but the amenities are nice and the land is pretty! We did get woken up by cows though very early one of the days haha. Definitely worth it and I had phone service there. A bit far from yosemite compared to some others but it worked for us

Beautiful site, beautiful location, nice and secluded and the weather was really nice. only issue was that around 6pm we started getting harassed by a very bold skunk but that is no fault of the site. would recommend and will definitely be back.

2 nights at Jug Handle Creek Farm

The group camp site was spacious and had many flat spaces for tents. We enjoyed have sun and shade, and the kitchen area was great. In order to cook for big groups, you'll need to bring a couple of cook stoves as the grill space is limited and not able to handle multiple things. The surrounding forest was peaceful, and it was great to have real toilets nearby. Overall, our class had a wonderful experience here and loved the proximity to Jughandle Beach. The descent there was tricky (a little steep and slippery for some), so those with any needs should bring their walking sticks.

John is a great host, checked in on us daily. There's firewood available, which is great. Not really assigned spaces, so you can pick a spot that suits your needs. Garbage cans, recycling, water and showers were all nearby. It's important to keep the gates shut so the cows don't come into the campsite. We had a great view of the moon & stars and being right in Groveland got us into Yosemite easily. Just to mention CA 120 is quite a curvy road with a large incline. We would definitely stay with John again.

it was perfect for what we needed. Just wanted to pull up and rest for the night. it was pretty walking around the property and waking up to the smell of christmas! very pretty drive to the property as well.

2 nights at Kings Canyon Campground

It was a quiet and pleasant stay at Kings Canyon RV Resort. The amenities are unpretentious but it's enough to get a few days. There's not too much happening around the area, however the night sky is beatiful and we saw a doe running across the camp. I had no reception so make sure to save the provided wifi details if you want to have internet.

Loved the big beautiful scrub oaks and beautiful vista. Bring bug / mosquito spray and watch out for Fox tails for your pets. Another wonderful hipcamp experience.

A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Camp Nauvoo

Camp Nauvoo was originally bought by the LDS church in the 1960's for a girl's camp. The camp was owned by the Boy Scouts from 2011-2015. The Rose family bought the property in 2016 with the intent to continue the tradition of tent camping as well as creating opportunities for exclusive events i.e., group/family reunions, weddings and corporate events. We are a small privately owned small campground (20 sites only) located on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM (please review). We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing sets, seesaw and tractor play. We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do not do checkins on Sunday but do allow camping over Sunday night. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes. We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. Located right off coastal US highway 1, Timber Cove campground sits right at the edge of breathtaking, oceanside cliffs. We are situated on roughly two acres of land, with multiple campsites for tent/car camping or RV’s. Each campsite has a picnic table, fire pit and water. Electricity is available to use for an extra fee. We have separate men’s and women’s flush bathrooms, with coin-operated hot showers. We have firewood with kindling for sale on site, payable with cash or Venmo. Please take note of local fire bans, when in effect. Dog friendly, though be advised a leash is recommended as we are close to the road, but they can run leash-free down at the beach. We are located 30 minutes north of the town of Jenner, with Gualala 30 minutes to the north. Gualala has grocery stores, a post office, and some shops. Fort Ross Store is located one mile down the road, just before Timber Cove, and sells basic food necessities, drinks, sandwiches, ice and gas. Internet cell service can be spotty in our area, depending on your provider, so bring your own Starlink services if you have them. We also have access to the beach below, and offer beach camping as well. Take note that the road down to the beach is steep with uneven terrain. The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night! We hope you’ll come visit our little slice of heaven on the ocean cliffs, gaze at the stars, marvel at the sunsets, watch the harbor seals dozing on their rocks and the many bird species that inhabit our property. Off-road enthusiasts would not have enough time in one visit to explore all of the 4x4 trails, abandoned mines, and sites in the area as well as the famous trail that brings you right to the Bodie Ghost Town. Climate and Ecosystem: At 6,400 feet (1,950 meters), this high desert climate has little to moderate tree coverage and gets hot during the days and cool at night. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. These Chironomid are harmless and do not bite. On the contrary, the mosquito presence is very minimal. Swimming in the lake is possible usually between April to July.

There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have 2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites (can be rented separately). The cabins offer a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites each have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit when the season is open for burning. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins (litererally 200' away!). It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and use at their own risk. We ask campers to use our property only for land use and river access, NO up or down river access is permitted AT ALL. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions!

DIRECTIONS: If you put our address in to navigation apps, sometimes it brings you to our neighbors (fire department) for some reason, even after multiple emails to google...if this happens come south/down hill about 600 feet and look for the ORANGE CONES on the same side of the road. Drive between them and down camp road to your site! (There is a pic of the site map in the posted pic's) Go to Google Maps (NOT GOOGLE SEARCH). Search for Sequoia Mountain Farms Campground. Navigator apps sometimes push folks coming from the south up the 245 highway. It is a very windy and slow climb up the hill. It is doable (even for bigger rigs), but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND continuing north on highway 99 towards Fresno and then heading east on highway 180 up the mountain. It's faster, much more scenic and a much smoother drive. This route also goes right by the nearest gas station on your way up! Heading east on highway 180, out of Fresno, the last gas station is a Valero at 35468 E Kings Canyon Rd. (aka Clingan's Junction). From Clingan's, head east on the 180 for exactly 13.8 miles to the 245 highway (it comes up quick with only 1 or 2 small signs), make a right, heading south. If you hit the park entrance, you went too far, turn around drive back about 5 min and look for the 245 on your left. Once on the 245 heading south, go 5.1 miles. On your right you will pass the 'Pinehurst Lodge', which is on google maps, an easy reference point and is 1 minute or less away (great food, bar, pool table and karaoke on weekends in the summer!). Then a few seconds later the U.S Forest Service "Work Center" is on the right and we are just past that on the same side of the road. First you will see a Giant Sequoia Tree in the front yard (campground road is just to it's right with ORANGE CONES on either side) then an apple ranch with an ole loggers cabin chimney from the late 1800s still standing in the front yard directly off the highway! If you hit the 'leaving sequoia national forest' sign and the community center, you went too far, turn around and drive 1 minute back and look for the apple ranch on your left, pass it and turn left at the ORANGE CONES. Please take note of the posted pics from directly across the street facing what you will see when you get here. PLEASE CHECK THE WEATHER: If you ask us about weather, were just going to have to look online too, so please be sure to check it yourself prior to your trip, before asking us to do it for you. San Diego county has wine tasting, breweries, theaters and eateries of all kinds. There are several beaches, mountain lakes, and even the deserts! You can skydive, or scuba dive, go deep sea fishing, or lake fishing, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, or walking the boardwalk! SAN DIEGO CANYON CREEK is a SMALL PATCH of WOODS, NEAR a ROAD, in a NEIGHBORHOOD. In the midst of the trees we have a great view of the stars at night. Harbison Canyon is surrounded by rocky peaks, with a CREEK! We have multiple species of song birds, owls, hawks, and other wildlife that live in this Riparian Habitat. There is a chorus of frogs throughout the spring nights, and crickets year round! It's a very short walk to the neighborhood park- equipped with several types of playground equipment and public creek access, or a five minute drive to a Crestridge Ecological Reserve containing multiple trails. We have three campsites and a cabin on about an acre of land. If you'd like to hang out on the property, we offer a table and chairs with each campsite to lounge in while enjoying the fresh air and nature. There are also a couple of hammocks available. In addition, our SHARED amenities include an outdoor kitchen that includes a sink with hot water, 2 mini fridges,(full at times, extra coolers available) coffee maker, a two burner stove, a griddle, a toaster oven, blender, tea kettle, and a few pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Also here to SHARE is a Propane fire pit and BBQ area. The bathroom now includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. We are continuously making improvements. Fun Fact: Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the world's largest honey producer! Today there are just a few bees in the area.
