This place appeared abandoned , with grass growing tall and unchecked, giving the impression that it hasn't been maintained in some time. We arrived later than planned and felt quite uncomfortable, as the overgrown surroundings made it difficult to see what might be hiding nearby. Additionally, there was no phone signal for miles around. Given the circumstances, we ultimately decided it wasn’t safe to stay the night and had to find alternative accommodation, even though it was already dark. This experience turned out to be a little too wild for us.

We had an excellent stay for 2 nights. This place is lovely and remote. Very quiet and the sites have lots of old trees. Our host Susan answered all of our questions. The entrance is almost opposite the fire station - less than 0.1 mile. Easy access for our 32ft travel trailer.

Beautiful land! It really gave me a feeling of "life on the open range" :). I always see land from.teh highway and really appreciated the opportunity to step foot on it. It also felt like a great adventure without traveling too far from home. The terrain os really pretty, and the stars were wonderful 😊

It is a lovely property. Anyone thinking about this property should be cognizant of the fact that there are no amenities, and there is a fire ban. Be prepared and enjoy!

Rural beauty, a great balance of sun and shade. Enjoyed listening to the various songs of the different bird varieties. The star show at night is absolutely beautiful. An outhouse/water faucet would be a great addition! I’d recommend Susan s spot to other van/RV campers!

5 star review and will be back soon! Susan’s property is prime for exploring. There’s four camp sites that are a good distance apart. We had picked site 2 but we agreed any the four would have been just as good. Site 1 would be great for a couple campers (if allowed), site 2 was up against a fence so felt more private, site 3 and 4 are a bit closer together with site 4 tucked into the hill side. Lucky for us we had no other campers so felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Spent the day walking the property looking for rocks and wildflowers with our 2 year old and dog. Got the bikes out too. Neighboring cows from the rather side of the fence would occasionally moo while passing. Enjoyed the cooler temps, no bugs, and still some green on the hillsides. Accurate directions and very well marked. Even had very good cell reception (Verizon) once on the property. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

We absolutely loved staying at Susan's place. She accommodated us very last minute, which was super helpful during our first van trip :)
We arrived at 1881 Rangeland Camping by night and had no problem with finding our camping area. Our dogs adored the land, we found some cool bones (coyote maybe?) they played with. Complete silence surrounded by beautiful land :)
Saved on our favorite Hipcamps list - we will definitely be back!

We loved every minute of our stay at Rangeland. As we drove in we felt the magic of the 140 year heritage of the ranch. Deer and beautiful oaks greeted us, and when the sun set and the night descended the Milky Way opened up like we’ve never seen before. She made us feel tiny and vulnerable, and incredibly lucky to be where we were that night. Thank you Susan for giving us a glimpse of your world.

The (somewhat long) drivers this site was certainly worth it! The property is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay very much. My daughter had asked for “wilderness camping” and the site did not disappoint. The stars were great and we had several deer walk right past our tent.

It was a very spacious camp ground with good area for tents and hanging out. Weather was very hot (to be expected out in Pozo). Host was very friendly and helpful. Campground was kind of hard to find, the sign was a little small. Overall we had a great time camping there!

This campsite is a little bit off the beaten path, but well worth it. This property has been owned by the same family since 1881. The host, Susan, who is such a sweet lady, greeted us when we arrived and helped us pick out the best campsite. She also gave us a tour of the property while we were there. It was fascinating to hear about the history of the land and daily ranch life.
The sites here are best suited for trailers and RVs as there are no bathrooms here. The land is so peaceful out here, definitely a nice respite if you live in a busy area. I recommend this spot if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway or curious about ranch life.

We had an amazing time at this site during the day and under the stars at night. This is a hidden gem and are so grateful that we got to spend a quiet evening in such a beautiful setting. The site offers ample space in a quiet and private setting. Would highly recommend staying here and visiting some of surrounding attractions (wine tasting, hiking, etc).

Loved this private camp!
We stayed at site #4 tucked up against a hillside with deer, bunnies, and so many birds! It was incredibly quiet and peaceful- I highly recommend Susan’s property. Spends at least two nights!!
