2 nights at Timber Cove Campground

The camping spot was beautiful, and we really enjoyed looking out at the ocean and watching the seals on the rocks. Even though there were quite a few campers on the property, it was quiet. We slept well, and the sound of the ocean is what you hear. We loved walking down to the beach. This was the most beautiful spot we have ever camped. Brenda was helpful with her suggestions for hiking.

Beautiful views, clean bathroom and showers and great beach. Site was small but every site had a great view on the bluff looking out at the ocean. Had location to ourselves during the week.

2 nights at RockNWater Cove Camping

Kris's HipCamp is a great spot. She checked in with us on day one to ensure we had everything we needed. The site was clean. It was mostly shaded from the oak trees and has a beautiful view to rolling hills, oaks and wildlife. It was a short and peaceful walk to the river. The bathrooms were clean. The downsides for us would be that the Larry and Curley sites are very close to each other. We would only reserve it again if we were traveling with another family who could reserve the neighboring site - and in that case it would be a bonus because we could all be together. I would recommend the Moe site if possible because it's in a more private location just up the road. The other possible downside is the available beach is fairly small and just one small section of the river is accessible for swimming and water play. It was great for us because no one else was there when we were, but I can't imagine trying to share the small area with more campers.

4 nights at Hidden Falls Yosemite Camp

Had such a great time camping here over the long weekend! The spot is beautiful and right by the river. The site has a fire pit, table, water and a bathroom - all were clean and well maintained. The site felt private even though there’s one neighbor nearby. The hosts were really communicative and the directions were easy to follow, which made everything super smooth. Plus, it’s dog-friendly, and our dog loved it. Definitely would come back!

Amazing spot. Camped with redwood trees, bathrooms and showers were clean, firewood for sale on site. And it was in the middle of the redwood state and national parks part of the PCH. Perfect spot to explore the area.

We absolutely loved our stay at So Cal Campground in Fallbrook! The property is peaceful, clean, and surrounded by beautiful scenic views—perfect for a relaxing escape from the city. Whether you're camping in an RV or a tent, the sites are well-kept and offer a really pleasant camping experience. The newly renovated bathrooms were a pleasant surprise—modern, spotless, and a definite upgrade from typical campground facilities. You can really tell the owners care about the guest experience. It’s also pet-friendly, which was a huge plus for us. It was so nice to be able to bring our furry family member along and feel totally welcome. The entire campground felt very safe, family-friendly, and welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and beautiful spot to camp in Southern California. We’ll definitely be back!

Great chill campground! For the most part you’re in your space, unless you have to go to the nice clean restroom or to take a nice warm shower. (Currently they are adding more showers, that’s a plus, it was over the holiday weekend and we had no trouble to wait for showers to open up either)… We got the chance to meet Fall and her husband, lovely couple! They brought a bottle of wine for us. We are a group of 12 , she hooked us up on a new site they are working on. To group us all together!!!! We had a fun time just chilling, we didn’t even go out to the beach like we were planning on. Thank you guys so much!

Weekend Trip to Hideout Mountain Lodge

We were looking for someplace to stay locally for a holiday getaway, and when we found that the site was nearby to Josie's Hideout we knew where we wanted to stay. The Crossing description was accurately described. It does not have a view of the lake, but the trees all around were lovely to take in nature. There were many birds flying around and it was wonderful to sit back and relax and watch nature around us. There is a fire ring and a sturdy table available. The site is ample and easy to park our trailer into. The nice part about this specific site is we were able to sit in the shade behind the table and listen to the band playing at Josie's Hideout. The band faces away from the campsite, but the audio was surprisingly clear so we could be in our own chairs while enjoying the band of the day. Julian is about a half hour down the road and is a fantastic town to shop in antique stores and get their famous pies. We hiked up to The Perch, and while the posting says there's no potable water, there was water up there (not sure if it's drinkable). The views from that site are phenominal and the road up to the site is paved better than the Crossing. However, I don't think that you'd be able to hear the music as well and it isn't as easy to walk down to the bar. There are pros and cons to both sites. I'd stay at either site in the future.

This campground is very pretty, and the hosts were so hospitable. We had 3 groups camping together (2 of us with trailers). The hosts were able to put us all in the same area, and welcomed my sister who arrived first with a vase of flowers and a bottle of wine. The showers/bathroom are very cute, clean, and many steps above the usual camping bathrooms. Be sure to read the hosts directions about how to get there. I accidentally went the way with the rough road. I survived, but re-reading my screenshot of the directions comforted me that I would still arrive at the destination and not dead end somewhere with my 17' Casita trailer. Cell phone reception is minimal, which our group liked since we could all take a break from that and enjoy camping together. There was a Gourd Festival next door nearby that we visited, which was fun. I would highly recommend this hipcamp location. It was beautiful and spacious. The hosts respond to messages quickly and were so accommodating. I didn't realize Fallbrook was so beautiful. Thank you for making our time special Fall!

The pros: Exceptional views, good beach access, clean bathrooms, respectful guests (mostly kayak fishers), and the host was courteous. The cons: the sites were very small (our 4person tent maxed out the space), the fire pits didn’t allow for a cozy campfire experience (mostly due to size). In general I’d recommend this place it you’re either into fishing via kayak or want to use it as a base for trips to the general area.

loved our stay here! beautiful and very clean facility. we were there over MDW and they had hot dogs and a taco cart.. nice grass area where kids can play. loved the very well curated general store. walked down the path to the beach and malibu seafood - a perfect malibu experience! book the ocean view if you can - so worth it. felt very safe… some highway noise but goes away at night. will be back!!

1 night at Native Falls Campground

I absolutely loved staying here. We rented a pull in site with full hookups and it was nestled right next to another site, between two cabins, with an awesome view of the lake just a few feet in front of us. The place was recently renovated with a ton of things to do like paddle boats, paddle boards, water inflatables, fishing, a short hike around the property, and numerous communal firepits/BBQs. The place seemed well kept and maintained, we saw several attentive staff roaming around in golf carts through out the day. If you’re looking to camp in an area where there facilities and don’t mind running into people throughout the stay, this is the place for you.

At Paradise Shores, we believe in protecting people, animals and the planet. We make sure that the majority of products we use at our camp is recycled, composted, or re-used. We prefer to use products that are produced in a sustainable way and avoid those that aren't. We are continuously reducing the amount of waste we generate and actively promote recycling of aluminum, plastic, glass, and cardboard. We pack our own recycling and haul it to the nearest recycling facility which is an hour away. We co-opt the drive with other activities to reduce waste. We don’t use individually packaged toiletries or one-use products. We use plant and planet friendly detergent. We're based in a desert. We share our precious water with the entire planet. With only 326 million cubic miles of water on the earth, the decreasing amounts of access to quality fresh water is alarming to us. We monitor how we use water in our day-to-day activities and are constantly working on ways to reduce our consumption of fresh-water resources. We hope you can help us maintain this greener camping! Pet Policy All our RV & Tent sites are pet friendly and we allow up to two dogs per reservation for a small fee. We can also accommodate up to two four-legged campers in our pet-friendly Baja or Tatra trailers for a small fee, we ask that they stay off the furniture (beds, sofas etc.) and are not left in the rental unattended. We love dogs, but sadly won’t be able to accommodate heavily shedding pets that aren’t house trained. Additionally, our insurance will not allow "aggressive breeds" that include any mix of: Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Doberman, German Sheppard. If you have any questions, please make an inquiry and we will get back to you very quickly. We really do love this work. LOCATION: We are located one mile down a well maintained and navigable dirt road, 20 minutes to Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and Palm Desert, and 15 minutes to the 10 freeway. We're near the Cabazon outlets, 2 hours to Los Angeles, San Diego, Disneyland, mountain areas, and beaches. Nearby there are local wildlife preserves, hiking and outdoor activities. We are 45 minutes to Joshua Tree and a half hour to Coachella. We truly are in the middle of nowhere and the center of everything. For folks traveling in winter, we’re considerably warmer than Joshua Tree and the High Desert. In summer we are cooler than Palm Springs. Immediate neighbors are small farmers and ranchers. Local spas and resorts are available for day use and access to their pools and ponds for as little as $10 a day ($5 seniors). We can provide space for events and entertainment for a small fee. ARRIVAL: Upon approving your reservation we'll send you a welcome message with information we need prior to your arrival to process your reservation, prepare for your arrival and provide you with check in information and accurate directions as gps apps to our location are often wrong. Please answer that initial email as soon as possible. We'll follow up with check in information and driving directions. Once in the gate, stay on the driveway and meet us on the patio with the blue shade sails. We will provide you with an approximately 15 minute orientation and tour, register you, check identification and show you to your campsite. Guests are required to fill out a liability waiver and a simple registration form. (See photos for copies of these forms.) OUR SPACE: Our land is 130 feet wide by an eighth of a mile deep in a residential neighborhood with lots 2.5-10 acres. We can see and hear our neighbors. We maintain a very quiet space but occasionally our neighbors have their own activities and events. Let us know if the neighborhood gets too noisy and we'll try to mitigate those situations. We can also provide free earplugs for those very rare occasions. Guests wanting a totally isolated experience may want to book elsewhere. DragonflyHill Desert Farm is a working farm in a wilderness area. Guests should check weather forecasts prior to arrival and assure that they have the right equipment. We have a moderate cancellation policy that allows guests to cancel 3 days prior to their arrival date to receive a refund. This allows enough time to check weather reports. There are occasional heavy rains and frequent high winds. It can get very hot in summer and reach freezing temperatures in winter. Despite our proximity to the freeway and nearby cities, and our location in a residential neighborhood, this is very much a wilderness area. DragonflyHill is not responsible for the weather. We are not a resort. Expect dry plants and patches during summer and into the fall. As a farm, we may be a bit more rustic than your typical farm to allow for shelter for local wildlife. Our cultivation methods encourage biodiversity and though we are growing food, many of our crops resemble landscaping or natural habitat rather than garden patches. Currently we have habitat viewing areas, an herb garden, an orchard, an outdoor classroom, a sheltered social distancing patio, an outdoor kitchen, meditation gardens, our (seasonal) mineral pool, community library, game boards and toys, and a tree bath. Plant varieties, wildlife and presentation may vary by season. Our farm specializes in herbs, fruit trees, desert and native plants, and edible flowers. We also grow some sprouts and microgreens indoors. We cultivate community and share what we grow with our neighbors and our guests. Guests have shared access to the outdoor kitchen and BBQ area, the orchards, gardens, patios, and grounds of the Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat, and (for safety reasons) limited access to the pool pond and spa -both unheated. The pool pond is filled with local mineral water from our own well. The pool pond is cleaned regularly & is chlorinated. The pool pond is not cleaned daily and is shared with wildlife. including bees and birds who drink water pool side. Debris from high winds and wildlife may contribute to the pool pond environment. Currently neither the pool pond nor the spa is heated. We also have wheelchair accessible hot water outdoor showers and wheelchair accessible porta potties. The pool area is accessible to guests year round but the pool itself is winterized and unavailable from mid October through mid to late April. We work hard to keep the home well maintained & clean; we're vigilant & do due diligence with professional quarterly visits from Truly Nolen 4 Season Pest Prevention (a green company.) We doubt you'll see any unwanted critters inside or near the house or other structures during your stay, but if you do, please advise us & we will promptly address the situation. DragonflyHill Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat is in a remote area of the desert with lots of wildlife. To help us keep wildlife OUT of the house and campsites, please keep food out of reach of critters & clean up after every meal. We affirmatively welcome children, but as this is a working farm in a wilderness area, parents will need to be vigilant of their child's safety and activity while here. We are constantly adding activities and features for children and adults. We are child friendly and we are a good location for groups. (Just message us with your details and we can tailor your stay to meet your needs.) We have 1 cat and 1 service dog. Other guests may have pets or assistance animals. Neighbors have chickens, farm animals and pets. There are a few feral cats in the vicinity as well as a variety of desert wildlife. At night you can hear the coyotes though we’ve never seen them or their tracks on our land. Common sightings of road runners, rabbits, hares, lizards, snakes, hawks, doves, desert wrens, migrating ducks (in the Spring), scorpions, mantises, crickets, mockingbirds, insects and spiders. WHO WE ARE: DragonflyHill is a community of artisans, activists, craftspeople and farmers, working together to cultivate community, develop methodologies for living and working together in ever increasing paradigms of social justice and sustainability. We are a safe and sober space that is disability and LGBTQIA affirmative, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-imperialist and de-colonialist, because anything else is just a bandaid. Core values of our work include attention to detail, fine craftwork and cultivating community. Some members of the Dragonfly Team live on the premises at all times and will be here for the duration of your stay. The rest of the team are community members. All Team members work at DragonflyHill Desert Farm and Wildlife Habitat in different capacities, in cooperation and collaboration with each other. It should be noted that we are not a museum community and our collective is not on display. Only 2-3 members of the community are currently responsible for hosting guests. Community members are autonomous and, much of our community functions virtually. There are also occasional community events at the farm, including farming, though many activities are just coming back after the pandemic. We hope to offer activities in the Fall. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. These Chironomid are harmless and do not bite. On the contrary, the mosquito presence is very minimal. Swimming in the lake is possible usually between April to July.

The weather can vary quickly here, so be sure to bring multiple layers of clothing and camp gear for various types of weather, and headlamps are useful for getting around the property at night!
