Joelle's Compound: With limited parking and accommodations, it felt very private on the property. Each camp is quite separate from the next and ours, the one with the tire swing, had a sweet canopy of trees and an awesome look out on the river. We loved that there was a table and a canopy available for us as well as wood! Returning ASAP! Super dog friendly and right up the river from Steelhead beach.

We had a great time! The kids loved exploring the property and utilizing all the little sitting areas and hammocks and swings. We really appreciated the awning, table and bench. Joelle was very responsive and friendly. Being able to walk to Steelhead beach and not pay for parking was an unexpected pro also, not to mention the lot filled up due to the busy weekend. The spot was beautiful, really appreciated the redwoods and the shade they provided throughout the day.
As we knew before showing up, there was road noise off River road but it didn't bother us at all. The toilet situation was the only minor sore spot, I think for a few people it would be fine, but with multiple groups of many people another port-o-potty would come in handy. The river access was a bit of a sloping trail so not great for kids, but I saw the adults in other groups both utilizing it.

The place was perfect for us! We were easily able to do a float down the river - there is river access on the property, and it’s right next to Steelhead Beach so we could take the shuttle back from Sunset Beach. Joelle was so friendly, and there were extra tents, picnic tables, fire pits, grills, and camping stoves. Our dog had a great time as well - it’s always great to find a nice dog-friendly spot!

I reserved a stay on Joelle’s land super last minute after a really hard week. She was super accommodating and welcomed me and my little pup within a few hours of booking.
I got lucky and had the whole property to myself. I prob could have stayed in a cabin or an extra fancy large tent but opted for my single person on a little cliff overlooking the river.
Nature did not disappoint me, I saw bald eagles, a bobcat and even a friendly river otter from my perch in the grass above the bank.
If you’re into real camping-like pack it in and out-this is a good spot to tuck in. Sure, there are amenities but the real gem here is keeping it simple and enjoying the diversity of life bursting from every corner. If you’re still enough, you will be rewarded
Can’t wait to make my way back and snag the island for myself! Thanks Joelle for being a great host

The site was great for our family Easter gathering. There was plenty of space, tables, chairs, everything we needed. The host, Joelle, was very communicative and responsive to our needs. We did not stay overnight so can't comment on sleeping at the site, but it was perfect for our needs.

Oh dang, Joelle’s Mojo River Spot is so much more than just a campsite—it’s like stumbling into a secret redwood wonderland. We rolled in as a group of six (camper van + two tents) and had plenty of room to spread out across three tiers of the site—yes, tiers, like a fancy woodland cake. My cat was so happy exploring the property too!
This place is decked out: camp stoves (with propane, bless), hammocks, a fire pit with lighter fluid ready to roll, corn hole, tons of chill seating, and water spigots everywhere. We cooked delicious meals with all the giant redwoods towering over us, and wrapped up the night with fire-pit s’mores under the stars.
The Russian River runs right there next to camp, and there’s even a private island you can explore when the water levels drop a bit—so maybe come back in summer for that! We were totally content just soaking up the morning sun riverside.
Truly a gem tucked in the redwoods. Would 100% come back.

Wow! What a treat staying at Joelle’s camping site. This place really has everything you need; games, seating, picnic tables, cornhole, bbq and so much more. Not to mention the view was fantastic!. Also, Joelle herself was super accommodating and communicative host. She even helped my bf plan a surprise for my b-day. For my first time using Hipcamp I really couldn’t have asked for a better accommodation. I can’t wait to return later this summer.

My group and I had an unforgettable stay at Joelle's riverside retreat! Nestled in a tranquil redwood grove, the campsite offered the perfect balance of natural beauty and creature comforts. The private river access was a true gem, and the yurt—well-kept and spacious—was a lifesaver when the November rain started to pour. The EZ Up canopy was also incredibly helpful when it started to rain.
Joelle was a wonderful host, making sure we had everything we needed to fully enjoy all the unique features of her site. The private trail leading to the river and access to a small island added so much charm to our experience. Though the river was chilly this time of year, it was refreshing to feel the breeze and relax by the water’s edge. For any last-minute needs, we found a well-stocked grocery store, Speers, just down the road. We also took a quick drive out to Jenner, which rewarded us with breathtaking coastal views.
This spot is perfect for those seeking a peaceful, private camping experience with the added conveniences to make it extra cozy. We'll definitely be back in the warmer season!

We had a lovely time here! Joelle is super friendly and helpful- she met us at check in to show us around and dropped off firewood for us. Easy spot to cook for and feed a big group and beautiful among the trees, with a little trail down to the river!

Grateful for a place to stay last minute, however the toilet situation could be improved. The location is also very loud, as it is by a main highway. But if you were down by the river, it is really nice and beautiful. The air mattress in the tent was mostly flat when we arrived, and the tent was dirty and smelled like mildew / mold. I'm all for roughing it and I made the best of it but the ladies were not happy. It was an adventure for sure! Also there was no sink to do dishes, I had to use a hose on the ground.

Really cool spot! Easy access to the river, sizable clearing for tents and whatever else you might want to do, and an interesting property to explore. There's some fun things to check out. Close to plenty of things to do if you want to venture out of the site. I'd happily come back.

This spot is a great place to have a quick weekend getaway. The water is very accessible, the fire pit is perfect, lots of tables for food prep. The place is very quaint and picturesque. Joelle was also very accessible and enthusiastic to help if need be. Support this little getaway so Joelle can continue to craft it to be a perfect escape to share!
