It rained and our suv struggled up the muddy road to the site but we eventually made it
there was lots of firewood and it was quite secluded
we kayaked that was cool - he let us borrow two of them

Site 1 - Lakeside Camp
Lakeside #1 was a great spot! Alex provided plenty of firewood and a couple of nice kayaks. It was very private, you basically have the whole lake to yourself. Expect to hear lots of animals - chickens/roosters, cows, dogs, coyotes etc, but after about 10:30 it gets quiet and peaceful.
The only thing I could complain about is most of the flat spots were occupied by fallen trees, which I assume was from Helene, but not a big deal.

He had his sites set as available, let me book and pay $90, asked me to add other people, and then totally ghosted me after I drove FOUR HOURS and the address wasn’t real. Total waste of time and money, don’t trust him!!

Great place to camp with complimentary firewood. The campsite has a nice firepit in the middle of camp right on the lake. Saw two boats and one kayak, deer and an Egret. Catfishing at night was very good. This was our first Hip Camp

To start off, this location is nice when it comes to the water. And access to the water however the trek it takes to get to the site is horrendous. It’s incredibly steep and difficult to walk it. It wouldn’t have been so bad if we were warned beforehand. I have six kids 10 and under, with an infant. It was extremely hard to get everyone up and down from the car to the site. We will not be returning. Without proper knowledge of everything beforehand, we would’ve been able to properly prepare ourselves. The wood that was provided was rotted and wouldn’t light so that we could have a proper fire. Then we had no where to dump our trash once we packed out. The host wasn’t even anywhere near our location so that we could leave it or anything. Miscommunication is truly the main reason for the poor review. We will not be coming back.

Loved being secluded. Very peaceful. Great having water access for pups to play in too! The trail to hike in is no joke…steep incline. Pack light!!

We had a wonderful time at Lakeside 1! Lots of room for our friends and us. Very shaded for hot summer days. Alex provided us with kaykas and lots of firewood, we explored much of the area and loved it all! We are already planning our next trip back. As mentioned in the reviews, the dip right before the campsite would be very hard on a small car, our truck did fine with it!

Lakeside #1 was a beautiful site. Very private. Room for a small group with several tents. Site was very clean on our arrival. Nice fire pit and lots of free firewood. Lake was perfect to float and kayak and we only saw a few boats and during the holiday weekend. Lots of frogs and other critters to sing you to sleep at night. Host gave great directions to location. Lots of tall trees for shade.
Overall, very happy with the site and hope to visit again.

Love the view of the lake and watching all the wild life. There is a slight decline going down to the lake so we had to situate our bed a certain way, but it wasn’t too much of a problem. Everything else was great as always with this host’s camp sites.

The site is absolutely beautiful! The lake was so peaceful and we enjoyed fishing and canoeing. Alex is a fantastic host and even provides fire wood which was an unexpected bonus! He did offer to let us use his kayaks also (which we did not need) and I thought that was a wonderful gesture. We had some friends who joined us just to hang out for the day- and some who stayed the weekend with us but there would have been plenty of room for probably 8 tents or more plus several vehicles. The fire pit was perfect for cooking over and to sit around and enjoy each others company. This was our second visit to the lakeside site and we will definitely be returning!

The kids and I really enjoyed our stay. Alex went out of his way to bring kayaks for us to use even when his truck was out of commission. Did some fishing, kayaking, and the kids went exploring with the dog. Plenty of firewood at no extra cost was a great amenity as well.

We had an amazing time at this spot! Alex was great, easy directions, let us use his kayaks to explore the lake and fish, very helpful host. Secluded and private, saw and heard lots of nature, and a few dogs barking. As for the dip, no worries in or out in a Nissan Frontier at all, super easy, we came and went several times. But to be clear, I wouldn’t drive my Altima to this site. Loads of free firewood as well, can’t beat that. We are already planning our next trip, this is an amazing camping spot. Thanks so much Alex!

Lakeside Camping Trip with Friends

Site 1 - Lakeside Camp
We had such a great time at Alex's campsite! Directions were easy to follow yet the site was very secluded. All of my friends came from various places yet we were all able to find each other! The site itself was great! Plenty of room for 4 large tents and a canopy. Alex let us grab firewood from the shed so we had a crackling warm fire every night and morning while we shared meals, looked out at the beautiful trees across the lake, and connected as friends.
The only thing to note was there's a large dip in the road right before the campsite. Our SUVs were able to handle it without a problem but my other friend left their sedan by the road. It wasn't hard to bring their belongings over to the site though.
Would highly recommend not only this site but probably Alex's other sites as well - him and his wife were great hosts. You could tell they took care of the land and really wanted the campers to have a great experience. Hammock ties and frisbees were left for us to enjoy and they stopped by on our checkout day to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. Looking forward to checking out some of the other sites in the warmer months.

It was a nice secluded place. Enjoyed the 2 nights that i stayed. Only tiny complaint that i had was the dogs across the lake barking up till midnight the first night and the gun firing throughout the day the second day. But i do realize it's deer season and that's to be expected. I would recommend this place and i will be returning!!

We have stayed here several times and always enjoy it. I'm sure we will be back again. We love to explore up and down the 3 creeks/river that all meet at your site. We take small fishing poles as we explore and constantly catch smaller fish one after the other. If you love the outdoors and being in the woods then this site will not disappoint. Also the host Alex can always be contacted for any questions or concerns and to help anyway he can.

This campsite was amazing! Everything we wanted! Alex was even so kind to drop off his personal kayaks for us to use! We fished all day and brought our own river tubes to use in the lake. Highly recommend this site if you’re looking for something primitive and private! 😊 We will be coming back!

Riverside Retreat
We had so much fun camping at the Riverside Retreat campsite! It was exactly what we wanted - a quiet, secluded, primitive, campsite with water access. As other people suggest - this site is ideal if you have a wagon since parking is a little walk from the campsite.
Highly recommend and can’t wait until we can go back!

This was an absolutely beautiful stay! The hardest part was finding the entrance but the host was extremely helpful! And the spot was exactly like the pictures! Recommend bringing floats for a full experience!

This place is awesome if you want privacy! The Creekside camp is beautiful and the running water provides great sleeping noise. There is a short hike to get to the site from the parking spot but it’s worth it to have a nice area to yourself.

We stayed at the lake campsite and it was super beautiful and quiet. Had a great time laying in hammocks and lazily paddleboarding straight out of camp. Alex was friendly and helpful. Only feedback would be to do some micro-trash clean-up. Lots of glass and cigarette buds all over so not exactly kid-friendly.

Site provides a primitive area to park a trailer. It’s close to the entrance so road noise can be heard. We did reserve the additional lake site which allowed us to hang and enjoy the water. Overall the site was as described.
