Weekend Trip to BANKS RANCH IN THE REDWOODS

This is a super convenient place to get away from it all...but also be 15 min away from Davenport and their convenience store and shops (as well as the coastal beaches). There is lots of space and sun in the meadow spot, and we walked past the creek spot on our hike down to the beautiful creek. The creek was a great place to be able to walk to during the hottest part of the day. Choose the creek site if you really want to camp and just be away from everything (the drive to it would be a mini adventure). Choose the meadow if you want to get in and out easily. It also has some great trees for hanging your hammocks. The whole experience was peaceful and the perfect weekend of camping. Obviously you have to appreciate a camp in/camp out experience (including your own poo), but Doug and Denise made it as easy and convenient as they can. Highly recommend having or renting from them the propane pit during the summer no-burn months.

I loved camping at this spot, we had had so much fun. The camp spot has a beautiful view all around and is in a nice quiet secluded area. One issue I did not foresee is the fog makes everything outside very very wet when you wake up so make sure to put everything away before you go to sleep other than that it was a blast.

We loved staying at Redwood landing! It gets very sunny during the day, so our canopy came in handy. Each morning was beautifully foggy and cool, and there was a really nice breeze in the afternoons. The redwoods are beautiful all around the site. It’s close to the beach so we took day trips there. Doug and Denise were excellent hosts. Our dog had a blast (but watch out for poison oak and ticks). Definitely recommend this wonderful private campsite!

As many others have said, the hill top spots (1-3) aren’t much for privacy or amenities, but they’re clean, level, nice and peaceful, simple really. Easy in and out access of the spots with a really nice view. Might be a little steep price wise for what they are, but all in all we’re happy with the stop and would definitely return for another stay.

We loved camping at Banks Ranch. Doug and Denise were such wonderful couple and they sincerely welcomed us to their ranch. We got to meet the animals. Our kids loved feeding them and we got eggs as well. Our walk down the creek was beautiful too. Make sure you take screenshots of the direction cause you may no have service down there. The family with us were first time campers and they loved this place. Highly recommend this place.

What a great trip… Loved the A-frame, container abode and adorable RV combo nestled in the redwoods with outdoor kitchen and trampoline for the kids, this place meets the mark! Also a great location to get to the beaches, quaint towns and good restaurants. Had a great time with pop ins from deer and turkeys as well. Just about perfect and excellent responses and help when needed from Laura and Chief. Thanks again.

What a magical place and set up that created a trip memory for a lifetime for us, a group of adults. Getting there was already beautifully surrounded by redwoods and upon arriving who could’ve thought it got even better. A weekend paradise. Everything we saw was as pictured. Indoors were very clean, with towels for everyone. Outdoor kitchen has everything we needed for cooking from tools to spices. Going to town was a very quick easy drive. Evening around the bonfire set the mood for a great bonding time. Waking up to the beautiful trees and birdsongs was a treat. We didn’t use the tub so can’t comment on that. Shower in the shipping container had hot water and good water pressure. Communication with Chief was straight forward and easy- very responsive and timely. Thank you for sharing this place with us!

A beautiful, secluded, flat campsite nestled in the mountains. Waking up to the view was a pretty magical experience. My pup and I had a great stay here. It was a bit muddy but I knew about the rain going in so came prepared. We’ll definitely be back.

The outdoor tub was a highlight! laura was absolutely wonderful. Kind, welcoming, and genuinely passionate to ensure our stay was perfect. We left feeling refreshed and are already planning our return. If you're looking for a beautiful, soulful escape into nature with incredible an incredible host - peaceful vibes, this is the place. The site was epic and really well maintained. It felt secluded, but not dangerously remote for my girlfriend's first time camping. The directions were fairly clear and the spot was easy enough to find. Doug and Denise were super friendly and accomodating. My only critique is the site could use a better bathroom option. We ended up bringing our own fold up tent toilet setup purchased from Amazon. 9/10 We'd love to come back and try out the Creek site.

This camp site was a lovely gem to find that was perfectly secluded yet not a far drive into town. We drove a 30 ft trailer and some parts were a little narrow getting to the site but made it with no problem. The kids loved the short hike to the creek. We definitely were happy we chose the redwood spot vs the creek given the length of our trailer. Doug was a great host and we were all happy to hear all about their animals. Would love to stay again if we are ever back in Santa Cruz.

We had such a fun time staying at Doug and Denise's creek campsite. The sound of the creek and the shade from all those beautiful redwoods was by far my favorite. This place is perfect to escape the heat of the summer. To top it all off Doug was such a humble and kind person, he gave us a tour of his ranch and filled us in on all the hard work and time he's put into this land. Thank you again for being kind hosts and for hooking it up with some fresh eggs, we will definitely be back again.

Gorgeous, peaceful property. We loved this Hip Camp and are grateful to Rebecca for sharing it. We have a 28' travel trailer and I don't think we'll be back because we damaged our stabilizers on the sharp turn into the property. The one lane road wasn't ideal, but we took it slow and honked our horn on turns. We understand these are usually the types of risks you have to take if you want to find a Hip Camp with privacy and you are definitely rewarded for the effort. The site itself is flat and large and very clean. The porta potty was in great condition. We woke up to cotton tail bunnies frolicking in the site each day. The drive into town or to the beach wasn't terribly long. Maybe 15-20 minutes. If we come back with a smaller trailer we would love to stay again.

PLEASE READ Hello all! If you're looking for some glamping with creature comforts, while just being 10 minutes away from restaurants. This is the place for you. We are a 5 acre property and home surrounded by tall redwood and oak trees. Very green and lots of shade. These are the amenities/facilities you will have free access to: Pool, Pool chairs and umbrellas, Deck area with sunset view, Trampolines, and hammocks. There is not cooking allowed by or at any of the common areas, due to flies and critters. Cooking and eating is only allowed by your sites and not in any common areas: Hammocks, Trampolines, Pool Area, tables, sink, and deck please follow this rule because we want to prevent our shared areas to be fly and bug infested. We are still working on ridding the flies and cleaning. (please try to bring prepackaged food or something easy. If anything you can drive 10 minutes to nearby food and grocery). In the past we let people cook and eat around the pool but now our whole property is fly infested and I find scattered leftovers on the ground. Thanks for understanding. THERE IS A 1-2 MINUTE HIKE TO THE CAMPSITES 1-5! Poolside campsites are closer to the parking and are bigger. CHECK OUT OUR NEW LODGING: This property is my home that I live in with my 2 kids. It is a rustic and homey vibe, definitely not a hotel. We want you to come knowing what to expect. Our property offers a pool, and trampolines for the kids. We have a deck patio area that overlooks an amazing view of the redwood forest. Most of our guests are those that come from foreign countries and they all LOVE the property. I love leaving a great impression of our area. CAMPGROUND GUIDELINES Pack out your trash. Rinse feet before using the pool. No pool toys or floaties. Always supervise kids. Don’t sit on chair edges or pool cover box. Use stumps or your own table for cooking (not ours). Keep the area clean—no food scraps on the ground. No dogs in the pool area; leashes and cleanup required. No eating in rooms or cabin. Check out on the deck. No smoking (vapes only, away from common areas). Welcome to the Amaya Creek Redwood Campground! We are deep in the Santa Cruz mountains and it’s rustic so be prepared! The road is all paved but it can be narrow, bumpy and steep in some areas. Be sure to follow our directions to bypass the road closure! There is no cell phone service in some areas. PLEASE NOTE, we do not have a trash service for the campground, we require all campers to PACK OUT THEIR TRASH with them! We have 40 acres of redwood forest and two creeks running through including the Amaya Creek which serves the boundary of our property at the end of Amayak Creek Trail. There’s also a small waterfall off the Amaya Creek Trail, but it may dry out during the summer. Enjoy hiking, creeks and small waterfall exploration, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, star gazing, relaxation, meditation and more. Our campground has running water from a natural spring, Men and Women's Restrooms each with 2 toilets and 1 FREE hot water shower, utility shed with sink and hot water, and an outdoor amphitheater. The kitchen and washer/dryer is Staff Only not for campers. . Most campsites allow 4-6 guests maximum with 1 car included in the nightly rate. Each additional vehicle is $15 per day and will be added at checkout once you add the correct number of vehicles you will be bringing. Pets are $10 per day, 1 pet per group ONLY. Please add this as an extra at the time of booking, you will see the option to add extras once you begin the checkout process. Dogs must be on leash at all times! Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. No drugs of any kind including marijuana allowed. No loud music allowed. This is a private property so no visitors are allowed, only paid guests. We had people swear that this is the best bed they ever slept in. The campground is located in a serene oak grove area of the property. The cabin has electricity, fan and heating for colder nights. - One very cute retro airstream style 1950's trailer with a twin bed for a couple or one person. - Space for 1-2 additional tents. For groups of 8 or more and special events please contact us so we can discuss the possibilities. - Onsite you should find all the basic amenities from home including all bedding, towels, kitchenware, cooking utensils, dining ware, herbs and spices, cleaning products, gas for the BBQ and fire pit is included etc. There are a few things you should bring: Food, drinks, ice and fun! The site looks down into a private and secluded redwood and oak forest with trails for small hikes into the redwood fairy circles or all the way down to the creek. The glamping site is on a sunny flat area surrounded by steep terrain up to a ridgeline and down to the creek. The creek is accessible although the final route requires a rope down so may not be suitable for everyone. Within 15-20 min drive you will find almost all major attractions in the Santa Cruz area including The Mistery Spot, Nisene Marks State Forest, Capitola Pier, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, and many famous surf breaks from Capitola to The Point, The Hook, Steamer Lane and many more., as well as many amazing mountain bike trails. There are also several Santa Cruz Mountain wineries to explore in a 3- 5 mile radius. Further afield you will find Monterey Bay Aquarium and the coastal beaches north up to San Francisco Bay ( 1 hour 30 mins north) and down to Big Sur about 1 hour 20 mins south. We ask all our visitors to be respectful of the environment, our wildlife, and our neighbors. Please drive slowly and respect the quiet times: between 9.30 pm and 8.30 am. We check all our guests in and provide a quick tour.
